Protecting him this way may not be the best way to help him. He needs to learn
how to deal with such frustrations in life and yet still feel proud about his
family name.
However, if you do want to change your son's last name, you can go to a local
court to start with. Then you will need to contact SSA and other agencies to
correct his name on the related documents. It's easier to change his than
