A postdoctoral position is available immediately to study gap junctional
function in hearing. Gap junction connexin mutations are responsible for 70-
80% of genetic hearing loss in human, which is the highest incidence in
genetic diseases. Our ongoing projects are evaluating gap junctional
function and contributions to hearing in the inner ear and mechanisms
underlying gap junction deficiency induced hearing loss. Ongoing work
involves the use of various transgenic mouse models, whole animal
physiological analyses , histological analyses, patch clamp recording, and
other cell biophysical assays. Applicants should have Ph.D. in neuroscience
or a related discipline. Preference will be given to applicants with strong
background in cell and molecular biology, mouse study, or electrophysiology.
Interested applicants should email CV and contact information for 3
references to Dr. Hong-Bo Zhao (h****[email protected]).
