其父Art Rooney 1933年建立了steelers游击队，在1964年进入Hall of Fame以后就开
始将革命火炬传到下一代手中。Dan继承乃父兢兢业业不事张扬的作风，从1955年起
就在组织内部每一个领域都工作勤恳脚踏实地，象一个螺丝钉一样拧到哪就干到哪。
经党20年考核鉴定，1975年被提拨为president。
其后30多年里，他始终与人民群众打成一片，从事了无数社会活动，担任的董事有
The united Way of America, the American Ierland Fund (哈，爱尔兰后裔)，The
American Diabetes Association, The pittsburgh History and landmarks
Foundation等等。去年二月，被著名的Maxwell Football Club授予Francis "Reds"
Bagnell奖以表彰其“contributions to the game of football"。
