。一个蓝色寸头的白人女性。本来只是半途进去凑凑热闹，但觉得她讲的无人车很有意
思，想去晚上的晚宴找她交流。又发现她没在晚宴名单上，罢了。没想到，我走的时候
正好跟她一路。就跟着她从学校走到家聊了一路。把最近一年自己的问题问了一两个。
她非常能扩展一个话题 没时间问很多问题。
怕忘了，简单记录下她的几个advice：有语法错误勿喷
背景：当时我的第一篇论文被iclr拒了，有点桑心。
1.要有韧性要有体育精神： “You’re too young to see the whole big picture.
“You need resiliency. “ “Gym Spirit “
2.关于改你的paper：“Also, don’t just fix the grammar errors in your paper.
Fix the flow. Refining the flow. For like 5 times before submission”
3. 论文录取有随机性，要敢于钻研：“Conference acceptance is very random,
highly dependent on the reviewers. Some people like the routine of getting
papers to be accepted, going to conferences, and convincing others and
receiving praises for their work; however there is still a large amount of
people just wanna dig into their work resiliently, no matter how others
would judge. ....”
4. 拿hinton举例子：“A few years ago, Geoff Hinton would go to every paper
seminar and ask the same question “why don’t you solve the problem using
neural network?”. Well certainly not enough attention was paid from the
community at that time....Researchers should have the resiliency to fight
for their own ideas. And not being distracted by superficial stuff. “
5. 工业界还是学术界呢？“If unfortunately, you prefer immediate results,
industry is probably your best bet. ”“it’s really important to figure out
what game you want to play as early as possible. Her advice is to do as
much internships as possible during undergrad, both research and engineering
jobs. (If you haven’t figured out yet; or even if you’re not firmly
believed yet) 要自己体验，问谁都会有bias。She warned me that never ever let
others’ values embody in your own decision making system. “
6. 综合建议：“practice resiliency, learn how to present ideas to public,
learn how to write things. “
7.AI越来越火，研究领域如果小的话，也要耐得住寂寞 ”AI community nowadays is
largely based on trends, with an exponential growth of paper submissions in
recent years. If you investigate into popular areas, highly chances are
that you would not be innovative enough to win this competition, simply by
definition. If working on small areas, you know you will only gonna have a
small group of people believing you, supporting you. Resiliency comes into
play here. “
8.交流能力也很重要：”Again, you’re probably too young to realize this.
When we’re holding weekly group meeting or one on one meeting. Presentation
skill, communication skills are commonly ignored by people from both
industry and academia. Unfortunately It’s as important as knowing how to “
do”. “
