H****N 发帖数: 997 | 5 regulate, 通常指比较大幅度的控制,turn on and off a process; modulate, 在已

regulate: mainly in the context of transcription regulation, eg., certain
transcription factor bind to the promoter region of a DNA sequence and
control the rate of the mRNA transcription
modulate: possibly refers to the signaling transduction that certain
signaling molecule (kinase) phosphorylate an amino acid in a downstream
protein and changes its activity
mediate: maybe A -> B -> C, then B mediate the effects from A to C?
