9个月工资给的不少，很competitive了。可是startup fund给的很少，也就6万多，买
了仪器，电脑server，可能连学生都招不上了，更别提付自己的summer salary了。我
觉得这有点欺负我了。
我想问问
1.没有summer salary很正常么？？？？？？？
2.我能negotiate startup fund到13万么？这样我可以招一个两年post doc。可是我觉
得一下子要double的钱，觉得象狮子大开口，怕人家吓到，然后收回offer。我觉得我
这钱要的不多了，我还不是生物化学的专业呢，，，，
这个学校是个150名开外的南方州立破学校。。。。 | b***a

发帖数: 28562 | 4 我觉得可以，关键是要把原因和和你的工作挂钩。告诉对方你希望尽快设立起一个
competitive work group 好尽快为系里招来外来资金，所以你希望是否可以给这么多
来支持至少两个学生。我以前写过一个帖子，在顶上还挂着。

I am VERY grateful for the 60,000 startup funds, but it would be better if
you can raise the amount enough for a two-year postdoc for my lab. I have
many data and a variety of ideas that I would like to quickly translate into
papers, proposals and grants to gain momentum for my research lab. I can
really use the efforts of a postdoc for my first two years to start a
competitive research lab. Later when my lab is progressing steadily on the
right track and I become familiar with teaching and supervising students, I
will start to take Ph.D. students.

If budget allows, would you be able to bump up my startup funds for my
research lab? Below is the ballpark to get my lab to quickly gain momentum
and generate productivity:
i). 3 workstations, $8000 each;
ii). a two-year postdoc, $100,000 in total;
iii). other research costs, including conference travel expenses,
publication fee and membership fee ~$6000 for two year
e Total amount would be about $130,000 for the first two years.
2. I’d like to know if my summer salary can come from the startup funds. If
not, what other sources are there for summer salary?
3. If possible, I’d like XXX to sponsor my permanent residence application,
in particular eb1b application, soon after I join XXX. This is very
important for me to attend international conferences and explore
international cooperation. Under a normal H1B work permit, I need to get US
visa every time I travel internationally. This is very troublesome given
that the possibility of being rejected an US visa is not low. You may not be
familiar with such immigration matters, and may need to consult HR or
International scholar officer for details.
4. I’d like to know the details of the relocation package. It will be a big
project to move from aaa to bbb. I’d prefer to know the budget for
relocation, e.g., furniture, car, and air tickets for my wife and I.

以作为你的参考例子。
关于绿卡申请的那个一般都是由学校政策决定的而不是negotiate 来的。那个我觉得你
可以放在其他email 里面询问。
