R01 grant was assigned into merit zone.
Is there really a merit zone?

If you are talking about the NIH merit award i.e. 10 year R01 (I know two
people who has the award), the grant has to be scored below 0.5 percentile. |

A percentile is the approximate percentage of applications that received a
better overall impact/priority score from the study section during the past
year.

of all the reviewers are 1). Its percentile is still 1 percentile (not < 1
percentile). Just for your information.

发帖数: 2041 | 10 My post-doc advisor's best RO1 is .65% and our collaborator who have score
of 10 recieved below .5%. I have them to use as template for my grants.
It depends on your study section. My department has a pretty wide field, I
have seen grants with all 2s barley getting scored. I asked the PI and he
told me you need mostly 1s to get funded. My study section 20 is 3% and 1s
according to senior faculties who served on the same study section are
rarely given.
I really don't care through, I just want to be funded. As long as the
percentile is under the Payline, I'm happy.
