already. If this is your the very first interview, it may not be too good.
However, if this is your second or you have discussed the budget with them,
this may be good. It simply state that you asked more than what they have...

offer you.
on the other hand, do you have any info on the univ's budget situation? for
example, you may have heard of the mess in PA. our dean is not making ANY new offers until the budget situation becomes clear.
