lucrative post in China.
p.s. he probably does need to brush up on his English before coming to study
in English...

school in the U.S. Don't say "prepare"; it could sound
like he quit the job in order to do the preparatory work
(take the GRE, submit applications), but later did not
actually go to the U.S.
