can someone help me out with the difference between
the two mathematic term:
factoring and factored? | O******e 发帖数: 734 | 2 It depends on the the syntactic function of the word when you use it.
It is commonly known that (a^2-b^2) can be factored into (a+b)*(a-b).
("factored" is a past participle used in the passive voice)
If a and b are not equal, (a^2-b^2)/(a-b) can be simplified into
(a+b) by factoring the numerator into (a+b)*(a-b) first, and then
canceling the two (a-b) terms in the numerator and the denominator.
("factoring" begins a gerund phrase that is a prepositional object)
