r****y 发帖数: 327 | 2 It does not matter at all. Different journals have different styles and
focuses; you don't really have an answer if you want to find a winner
between the best apple in the world and the best orange in the world.

a*****5 发帖数: 168 | 3 You have your point.
Let me rephrase my question:
Both AER and QJE are generic econ. journals and are regarded as the top ones
in the field. Do you think that AER is more prestigious than QJE? |

r****y 发帖数: 327 | 6 Both QJE and JPE are so called "club" journals as they are associated with
specific departments; basically among the top 4 or 5, you really cannot
compare them, they are different but not necessarily rank-able.
【在 a*****5 的大作中提到】 : Okay.What about JPE?
|
a*****5 发帖数: 168 | 7 Thanks for the comment ramsey! |
B******e 发帖数: 16928 | 8 Nope. JPE is as good as AER if not better than and clearly better than QJE.

e**l 发帖数: 21 | 10 The degree of discrimination in economics publishing is very high. It is
difficult for a scholar from low-tier universities to publish at AER. I
have the following story. One scholar used to teach at a top 10 US
university and published at a top journal many times. Later on, he moved to
a lower rank university and could not publish at that top journal any more.
He felt quite upset: he thought his research was improving over time, the
only thing changed is the university he works at. |
