Description: A research assistant (Post Doctoral Fellow) position is ava
ilable at the Institute of Nanoscale of Material Science and Engineering
and the Department of Electrical Engineering to develop novel semicondu
ctor optoelectronics devices such as lasers and detectors and high frequ
ency electronic devices such as THz transistors, waveguides and filters.
The candidate is expected to conduct one or several of the following re
search tasks such as: i) material growth using MBE or CVD techniques; ii
) Material characterizations using various techniques such as XRD, TEM,
PL, FTIR, etc. ii) Device fabrication and characterization. The succes
sful candidate will closely work with two research groups led by Prof. S
hui-Qing (Fisher) Yu and Prof. Hameed Naseem, and will also have intensi
ve interactions with researchers in Institute of Nanoscale Material Scie
nce and Engineering. The other duties for this position include working
with the graduate students by providing guidance suggestions, being in
charge of the daily operation of three groups coordinate the collaborati
on work, writing technical reports and papers, and helping in gathering
information for proposal writing.
The minimum requirements for this position are:
a) The candidate should have earned his/her PhD degree in Electrical eng
ineering, Physics, Chemical Engineering, Material Science, Chemistry, or
related discipline.
b) Demonstrated research experiences in at least one of the areas listed
in the description.
c) Evidence of publication in technical journals.
d) Hands on experiences in III-V MBE/CVD growth (SiGeSn compound, carbon
nanotube, or graphene) and machine construction/maintenance, or using E
-beam lithography for nano-device fabrication is a big plus.
This position is for one year and renewable upon the availability of fut
ure funding.
