If you are decent US EE graduates, you are qualified to do most of the jobs
there. Big company development environment are all proprietary, even though
most of the tools are sourced from outside. Sometimes, they even customerize
sourced tools to fit their requirement. You have to learn most of the stuff
at work.
The LTE standard is still a work in progress, no nobody has enough
experience on it. |

description. It clearly asks for M.Sc./PhD AND five-year experience. It is
actually undestandable. HW can easily hire many fresh PhDs in China and they
are as good as fresh PhDs in US. It surely should target at more
expereicend people in US. I would do the same thing if I were in charge of
this.
Although, I hope that requirement is just for B.S. Anyway, all the jobs at
HW look really good for EE students. If someone got

发帖数: 87 | 14 Most of the LTE R&D work are done in Europe. There are very very few
candidates for HW to choose in North America.
As I know, there are only few people from VZW and AT&T CTO group have some
exposure to LTE.
Most of the experiences people have from 2G and 3G don't really help as the
system is re-engineered completely: the air interface is all OFDM based and
core network is all IP based. The fresh graduates are perfect for these
kinds of positions.

technologies evlove so fast that previous knowledge is not very important.
For example, even if you know very little about GSM or CDMA, you can still
work on LTE and do it very well. But, when new technologies come up, your
LTE experience becomes useless, at least not very valuable.
How can a wireless engineering get out of such delemma. Maybe the only way
is to NOT do wireless.
