Michigan much better than they know about Georgia Tech. Overall reputation,
Michigan is better, but US news ranked Georgia Tech on the 4th for
Engineering. Don't know which ranking is more important. other admissions
such as Purdue doesn't seem to be as competitive, so I guess they are out of
the pictures. What do you advise? Michigan Ann Arbor, or the Georgia Tech

Overall, UMich is much better than Gatech. But, Umich is much more
expensive than Gatech (33K vs 22K) if you have to pay yourself. |

论的方向，而自己不喜欢，会很郁闷，最后能不能毕业都成问题。
关于北邮的类比，北邮学生也认为GaTech很像北邮，专业设置，声誉位置，校园环境都

UMich is better than GA Tech. In terms of concentration, it's DSP in GA
Tech and Microelectronics in UMich. |

professor from Michigan State University. He's still a new faculty. MSU
doesn't seem high ranked, but he has about 25 first author research paper.
Niu Ren. He came in with another very competitive faculty Graduated from
MIT.

them. Who is the advisor there? That may count more.
On the other hand, DSP, like all communication topics, is not hot as before.

and "fudan". but is "GA Tech" the same level as "beiyou"?
I do not plan to become a professor in the future. actually I chose GA Tech
over the other AD because I heard that they have the best Coop program and
many industrial ties. Is GA Tech a good choice to find PhD EE jobs after
graduation? |

发帖数: 124 | 11 Talked to many people, they all say Michigan has much better reputation, and
they are surprised that GA Tech is ranked so high for Engineering.
unfortunately I have already accepted the offer from GA Tech, it feels like
I just lost something because of the decision. Hopefull DSP PhD can get me
some jobs in the future. Actually i could have set out to work after my
college. Many of my friends got jobs here with salary around 60k. Don't
know if phD in Engineering is a wise decision after all. |

其他学校厚，（这一点很像北邮赶上IT好时候，在通信领域成了暴发户一样）。
我觉得关键是找个好方向，好老板，综合声誉以及排名就那么回事儿，很虚的东西。不
管在什么学校，搞个差方向，跟个x老板，不爽很长时间的。 |

super strong in DSP, Ronald Schafer, Russell Mersereau, James
McClellan etc, they all almost spent their whole career in GaTech and
established their reputation and hence GaTech's DSP reputation there.
TI's DSP is the best with more than 70% market share and when it came
to which school they choose to fund their research, they picked GaTech,
Rice, and MIT.
Why Michigan's reputation is higher in lots of Chinese's eyes? My 2 c

I actually personally met Dr. Russell Mersereau, so I was intrigued to see
the name here. I didn't know Dr. Mersereau enjoys such a reputation in DSP.
This just sounds great because I know the other professor, who I am going
to work for, is about in the same level as Dr. Mersereau. I feel very
encouraged to work hard in graduate school know. Got to know that the hard
work is heading some where, right?

Gatech本身专业就多，而ECE差不多是全美最大的了吧，嘛嘛都有
北邮就是个通信。
另外，亚特兰大那个破地方，一半老黑，能和社会主义伟大首都比？
