了给我申请H1b对其他事情都是一问三不知。请求答案，包子答谢！
我已经递交了485（self petition），而我没有申请EAD，因为有一个材料怎么也找不
到了。我的6年H1b这个月底过期，现在的老板已经帮我递交了H1b extension的材料。
但是因为交得比较晚，所以估计在月底之前是没有办法被批准了。但是我们学校
international office的人告诉我，即使我现在的H1b过期了，因为是在过期之前交上
去的extension申请，所以我可以“take advantage of a provision called
portability which grants you work authorization for 240 days beyond the
expiration of your current petition”。所以我还是可以继续工作。
我现在的问题就是，
1）这个对我的485申请会不会有什么影响。因为中间会有身份pending。
2）我打算8月底回国，现在连机票都不敢买，因为我不知道在新的H1b下来之前，我到
底能不能回国？还是必须在这里等？如果可以回国，那我需要什么材料到时候才能用AP
顺利进入美国？

发帖数: 776 | 2 1) You can still work since you submitted the extension before your current
H1B expired. It will not have negative impact on your I485.
2) If you have a valid AP, you can leave and come back with no problem. No
paper work is needed. If you plan on applying for a new visa at the US
consulate in China, you will have to wait until you get your new H1B.
