份到期，现在学校开始提醒我h1-b的maximal year问题，他们需要半年的时间来处理延
期问题。
The H1B is a 6-year visa. Your H1B ends 3/31/13, which is the end of your
6th year of H1B sponsorship. I know this is early to remind you about your
H1B ending date; we are not able to begin this process until it is 6 months
before the start date of the H1B renewal application.
There are two ways to extend beyond the 6th year of H sponsorship:
· If you have applied for the green card and has either a receipt or
approval notice of the I-140, that will grant you more time on the H. For
the receipt notice, you would receive 1 additional year; for the I-140
approval notice, you would be able to receive additional years. Postdocs at
Univesities are not eligible to apply for University-sponsored green cards.
Thus, your green card would need to be based on self-sponsorship.
· If you have traveled outside the U.S. since 11/18/2007 and can
prove that you have been outside the U.S. for more than 1 month, we could
apply to recapture that time spent. For example, if you were in China or
any other country for 1 month in 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, you would be
eligible to extend your visa an additional 4 more months. Again, proof is
necessary to recapture time.
A last option might be to revert back to the J1 visa; this cannot be

140批准后，H1可以延三年。否则140pending1年以上，H1可以延一年。
一般准备延期H1要提前4到6个月。

～2个月
就基本能收到？然后一般准备材料需要1～2个月？

发帖数: 2452 | 6 第5年底的时候把140交上去拿到case number。准备140的材料总要1，2个月吧。
这个批不批呢，要看人品了。
