Can someone shed some advices to me?
I have some years of programing experiences, basically within microsoft
framework, using C/C++. With Microsoft stuff change so fast, i am kind of
feel not easy to ride the trend while growing older. I feel doing those
front-end programming is kind of tiring now. I want to move to the back-end,
like some DBA stuff to live easier.
May I ask which type of DBA is better, oracle DBA or Microsoft DBA? I heard
that there are still a lot of development work for a |

There are plenty of job opportunity in the market do play data, like put
data into database (ETL job) and get data from the database (Reporting
Engineer), all these kind of jobs offer better life style than coder.
If you really want to be a DBA, better target Oracle, cuz Oracle is the
largest database vender in this earth ball.
All the large system and high transaction OLTP system are supportted by

You can download Oracle 11g to your PC and play with it. You can gain Oracle
skill without using it in the company.

SERVER 2005是大方向. 不过Oracle用得很多, 一时半会也不会倒.

However, it is a big deal for you.
It is true that google is using lots of mySQL, and Yahoo is using lots of
Oracle on PC.
However, there are many large enterprises who is using Oracle. And they will
NOT move their important high transaction system from Oracle to small PC.
And Oracle DBA is definitely earn a higher paycheck than the SQL Server/
MySQL DBA, this is a fact and this is for sure. It is meaning less to argue

我自己就是主做Oracle的，也最爱研究Oracle database internal
MS SQL Server和MySQL是工作所逼 ;-)
但是，我觉得对于一个新手，能找到Oracle DBA工作的可能性基本为0
MS SQL Server和MySQL却很容易找到小公司DBA的工作
当然有可能80％以上的时间在做development，20％的时间管管数据库
所以我觉得你想入这个门，可以先学学MS SQL Server和MySQL
找到一个小公司做一段DBA，边做边学习，两三年后在找Oracle的工作
