David Millar’s Minimalist Pad Setup
Most riders opt to use clip-on time trial bars on a road bike for hilly TTs,
but they are always trying to save weight. Mechanics come up with some
ingenious solutions for arm pads. One of the lightest and cleanest was this
setup on The Cervelo S5 that Garmin-Sharp’s David Millar rode. His
mechanics created a curved shape by shimming pads, which they secured with
electrical tape and velcro. We also saw bikes with zip ties attaching bare
pads and pads with the pad holders to road bars. |
