JOB DESCRIPTION
As a Data Engineer, you will assist in the implementation of scale-able
infrastructures for analyzing large real-time data-sets. Furthermore, you
will be involved in the effort to deploy interfaces between Ruby on Rails
and a back-end serve that generates predictions using trained statistical
models.
Within this role, you will be responsible for providing the vision and
direction of data architecture, data strategy and guiding best practice in
design and integrations. This role will play a key role in guiding new
solutions, technologies, and platforms to meet the requirements of our data
focused product.
This position reports directly to the Director of Data Engineering.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's Degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics, statistics,
finance or other programming related fields from a top tier school
Must possess basic knowledge in DB and SQL programming
Must possess basic knowledge in web and application programming (Ruby, HTML,
JavaScript, CSS)
Must be familiar with Object-Oriented Design (OOD) concept
Ability to identify non-obvious solutions to complex problems
Programming ability using R, Matlab, Python or other statistical software
Preferably has a basic understanding in statistics, machine learning
modeling techniques
Preferably is familiar with the concept of test-driven development and code
review
JOB DESCRIPTION
As an “ADMP”, you will become an expert in data and analytics at Avant.
You will spend your first of four 3-6 month rotations on the Business
Intelligence team. During your BI rotation you will help support the global
organization’s data needs and have the opportunity to work with all core
teams at the company. After your rotation through BI you will have the
opportunity to rotate through Business Analytics, Data Science, Fraud
Analytics, Marketing Analytics, and/or Financial Planning & Analysis.
During your time on these teams you will have the opportunity to take on
significant ownership immediately. If implementing new technologies and
data platforms, analyzing data to impact decisions on both new and existing
products, and having a direct impact on the company’s profitability sounds

The goal of this program is to develop highly technical, data-driven
individuals into future leaders of the company. As such, you will work with
and have exposure to the company’s senior leadership on a regular basis.

QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics, statistics,
finance or other from a top tier school
1-4 years of data analysis experience preferred
Must possess knowledge of SQL programming
Ability to analyze large datasets and translate findings logically
Familiarity with additional programming languages is preferred (Rudy, Python
, R, etc.)
Experience working within startup environments is a bonus
MBA and graduate school candidates welcome
JOB DESCRIPTION
As an Avant Risk & Analytics, Senior Analyst you will be instrumental in
helping build out the fraud and operational risk function for a rapidly
growing consumer finance company. This will include but not limited to:
analyzing big data to set best practices and processes, monitor daily
traffic and oversee the manual review process for suspicious activity,
building real time reporting to flag emerging risk, and work directly with
the heads of Compliance and Operations to ensure that the maximum amount of
customers are expediently serviced while minimizing risk. The Analyst will
collaborate across multiple business units gathering requirements, analyzing
data and developing solutions.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics, or
statistics from a top tier school
2+ years relevant experience analyzing and synthesizing complex data sets
using database concepts and statistical tools.
Must possess knowledge of SQL programming and Excel. Knowledge of R is a
plus.
Ability to understand business strategies and identify non-obvious solutions
to complex problems.
Ability to analyze large amounts of data and translate the data into sound
insights.
Ability to balance multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Strong team/relationship building skills.
Understanding in statistics, data modeling techniques preferred.
Any experience combatting consumer finance fraud or cybercrime is a HUGE
plus.
