Welcome to Chicago Piano Studio! I am truly excited to work with each of you.
I love music, I love playing piano, therefore I dedicate my career to teach
piano. With over 20-years performance experience, I have built myself as a
professional piano teacher and dedicated my career to piano education. As
the candidate of doctorate degree of piano performance and pedagogy, I am
confident that in my piano studio, you will be given the professional music
training. I will try my best to develop your talents in the best way and
help you to achieve your music dream.
I believe fine education will influence students’ lifetime studying habit
and even affect their personality in whole life. Developing the solid music
foundation and leading student to become an independent learner in their
future studies are the main parts of my teaching philosophy. In my piano
studio, students are inspired to love music and encouraged to pursue
excellence in every area of their piano studies. With carefully selected
repertoires, students will understand the core of their study is beyond the
assignment. It is vital that students leave my class with the ability to
read music correctly, listen music analytically, and approach unfamiliar
music on their own. Having the tool of self-learning will benefit student in
their future studies.
Whenever I meet my student at the first time, it is very important to have
the diagnostic test. To recognize their interests and goals will determine
our teaching and studying plan. I believe every student is unique. Not
everyone wants to be a professional pianist, but everyone wants to learn and
benefit from his/her music study; not everyone is looking for the future
celebrities as the concert pianist, but as a teacher, I regard each of my
students as an individual star in my teaching life. As soon as I recognize
what his/her goal is, I will create both short and long term teaching plans
for each individual and these plans will be reflected in each lesson. I
persist in having the well-prepared teaching plan for each lesson and try to
cover all the necessary areas such as fundamental technique training,
musical development, historical and theoretical introduction, sight-reading
skill, ensemble music, ear-training, etc. Besides, some students may also be
interested in pop music, accompaniment skill, jazz improvisation,
composition and so on.
I love working with students of all levels and ages. One of my teaching
philosophies is to provide an effective way guiding students through a
journey of finding their best and achieving their goals, giving them the
most fundamental keyboard training while considering their own interests.
And also enable them to play piano with pleasure while sharing love of music
with friends and families. It is necessary to let students feel learning
music are engaging, fulfilling, and fun.
I consider myself as a sincere teacher. It is my responsibility to teach my
students not only to play piano, but also to assist them to explore and
enhance other life skills through their music study. Such skills can be
incorporated to all aspects of our lives: communication, patience,
confidence, problem solving, self -expressive, self- control, time
management, judgment, decision-making, concentration and memorization among
others. Through the time of learning piano, they can accomplish these goals
through the effective processes.
“Teaching is learning”. I am always more than happy to listen to my
students’ thoughts and discern their understanding. It is helpful for me to
adjust my teaching method and curriculum according to their learning
process, and to update and improve my pedagogical concepts all the time. In
order to be a role model, I always challenge myself to re-think critically
how the work I have done with my students, and keep myself studying
