a small fort with wired fense, in a very nice area. There were flags in
front of the house, and my LG commented "I bet it is confederate flag" I
did not believe him but when I googled it, it turned out he was right!
Even though confederacy has many faces, but one of them is slavery. It is

据说此公在他的地盘上还收藏了不少内战时的武器，其中最大的是一门当时的加农炮。
早十多年前，每逢年节，他还要在自己的院子里放上两三响。本来Town想要收缴他的武
器，但是害怕捅宪法第二修正案这个马蜂窝。后来某人想了个办法：给他发了个警告说
他操作的机器噪音过大，违反了Town的code，如果不能保证噪音在100分贝以下，机器
就要被没收云云，那哥们就消停了。
更有趣的是，据说此人出生成长于Ohio，其实是正宗的北佬，来到南方后突然发现了自
己的精神家园，于是以骄傲的Dixie自居。
至于他的政治立场，当然与现在的主流不合拍。但是在美国真的没人care，一般人对此
持宽容态度。有一年我去Texas，在Austin的议会大厦门口看到两座纪念碑，一座是
Alamo（德州独立战争的著名战斗），另一座是内战纪念碑，碑文写道：从1861至1865
年，南方11州的人民为反抗联邦的暴政，经历了四年艰苦卓绝的战斗，直至流尽最后一
滴血。谨以此碑纪念牺牲的德州军民。 - 象Austin那么进步的城市，这碑立在那么显
眼的地方，也没见被拆掉。我们州UNC那么进步的学校，主楼后面也有个

We just moved here. We lived in many states and the last one even had KKK
signs! I guess I feel bad for the black people who live here. It is a very
diverse place after all. I wonder if it would be the same if we are rubbed
in face the same way.
I talked to my colleague - a well educated, mild temperament black about it.
He commented that that guy was just an insensitive jerk.
