I think it is a little late to jump into this field. Publishing papers are
becoming more and more difficult and it is also hard to find new problems. But
if you can manage to graduate soon (in 3 years, for example) with good
publication record, there is still a good chance to find good jobs,
especially, faculty jobs. Right now, security and bioinformatics are two
hotest areas for faculty job market. Not sure how long bioinformatics will
remain hot.

发帖数: 294 | 8 I have some inputs from a graduating Ph.D. in bioinformatics. He is doing
well in that area. I highly recommend lbyj to be very careful before jumping
in, for some more specific reasons. However, this board is not a place to
say much without incurring possible trouble. So I chose to be maybe overly
concise.

oral presentation, while 25 other papers were accepted for poster
presentation, right?

data you refered is lower. I don't know why. Maybe my data only includes the
papers got reviewed while ACM counted all submissions (some submissted papers
are incomplete or just junk, so didn't get reviewed). For IPSN, whether a
paper is selected for oral or poster presentation is solely dependent on the
topic and the nature of the paper, not the quality, which is quite different
from some other conferences. For example,
