Later, if partner bid 3C/3D, I'd bid 3H to show this awful hand. If partner
doubles, I may try 2NT, because they really may make it sometimes and it's
IMP. I don't really think partner should guarantee 2 spades here to double.

especially after opp's S overcall. Don't do anything unless partner use some
forcing bid.

the logic of pass in this situation. If p believes we can make something (
with my opening 1C), he will make another bid/or X.

a couple questions might be relevant:
1. Given 2H forcing, have you ever seen 1C (1S) 2H (2S) and all pass?
2. Suppose the auction went 1C (1S) 2H (P), what choices you have when
holding a minimum hand? Have you lost any of these because of RHO's 2S?
My own answers to these questions are NO and NO. I bid 2NT as my hand plays
better in NT than hearts.
It looks very natural to me and put partner in a better position to judge
the situation.

better to play it as artificial.

I think no one passes with a 12-count these days, no matter how ugly it
looks. I would open 1D if playing MP.

Why should I open a non-opening hand? Just because others may do it? I think
in the long run, you still need to look at the cost and benefit (also your
bidding system).
