partner holds the right cards or horrible when partner holds the wrong cards
. You have no way to find it out. Sometimes, it's a good idea to bid a new
suit at three level to show shortness. Without this gadget, you have to
guess. here I guess 3NT.

If pd has weakness in H, or less than Ax in C, then 3NT would be a
completely non playable contract. But if pd has some wasted values in H,
depending on the opening lead and defense, 5C often has some play even if we
have 3 quick or slow losers. |

for a very narrow target.
I play 4C as showing 5-5 in this sequence, slam interest. Some others may
even play it as Gerber. |
