You are mixing up two things. 注册个公司 is as simple of filling a form
online and paying a little fees, probably takes no more than an hour.
租用别人实验室做点实验 is totally different issue. It's an agreement
(business or scientific or just personal favor) between you and the other
lab.

I don't think it's a requirement, but you have to keep everything legal.
Registering a company and legally running a company is a different thing.
