CLEAR LAKE, Ore. - A woman who reportedly threatened to harm herself crashed
head-on into a semi truck on Highway 126 on Monday, Oregon State Police
said.
The woman died from her injuries after being pulled from the wreckage and
flown to a hospital in Bend.
The truck driver suffered minor injuries.
According to the initial investigation, a 2007 Toyota RAV4 driven by Darla
Renee Lamb, 48, of Blue River was eastbound on Hwy 126 when it crossed the
centerline and crashed nearly head-on with a westbound 2013 Volvo truck
pulling a trailer near Carmen Reservoir Road.
After the crash, the semi went off the south side of the road and came to
rest in some trees.
Emergency crews got the call at 7:50 p.m. While en route to the scene, the
Lane County Sheriff notified state troopers of an attempt to located a Blue
River woman for a welfare check after she reportedly made statements she
might harm herself.
Upon arriving at the scene of the crash at 8:44 p.m., the trooper noted the
RAV4 matched the description of the vehicle sought by the sheriff.
Lamb had been pulled from the wreckage and flown by air ambulance to St.
Charles Medical Center in Bend with serious injuries. She later died from
her injuries at the hospital.
The truck's driver, Donald T. Cloe, 77, from Las Vegas, Nev., was taken by
ambulance to St. Charles Medical Center in Bend with minor injuries.
Witnesses told state police the Toyota was driving recklessly at a high rate
of speed prior to the crash. Troopers are continuing the investigation. | A***n
