I am an international student at ISU. My second hand car was overheated one
month ago and burned the Serpentine belt. It was towed to Des Moines.
The people in the mechanical shop told me that serpentine belt was burned
because of oil leaking and overheated, which broke other parts like balancer
, sensor outside of engine. Then oil pump and other parts were replace,
costing over 1000 dollars. Later they told me the car still couldn't be
started even after replacing these. They said they have to open the engine
and check inside. So later after one week they told me a lot of parts in the
engine need to be replaced and the total would be a little over 2000. So I
had no choice and let them do their work.
However when I got there to pick up my car, they charged me 3000 dollars and
showed me the bill. I didn't understand the parts that replaced inside the
engine. The worst thing was that the car would shake after I started it and
stop in front of traffic light. The engine just immediately died after I
turned on the AC. I was pretty disappointed.
I think they over charged me. But I'm just a beginner of car and don't know
much about auto service. Later I asked people in Ames to check more about
the left problem. They drove back to des moines and had the engine died and
towed. Later people in Des Moines told me camshaft was broken. A two
cylinders were not working. They told me I'd better have my engine replaced.
!!!!!!! After spending 3000 dollars on the engine, they told me I should
replace the engine, which could cost another more than 1000. I'm just a
student here and don't have much money. I think they over charged me and did
the work not professional. Maybe they even lied to me.
I'm pretty angry now. No idea what to do now. The price of this car is just
a little more than 3000. And I have to spend the same money fixing it?
So I'm asking if there's someone who can help me determining the car
problems and get the reasonable price from shop. I can pay you for your help
.

发帖数: 371 | 8 修车之前一定要问清楚，收费的问题。不能直接把车丢给别人，什么都不顾。做一个明
白的人，别人就不会黑你了。不知道你去的是不是Ron's auto。在google map上面评价
很好。但是我问做个free检查，不管检查结果如何，尽然要收40多刀，立刻走人。很多
修车店有免费的检查服务，就是你觉得什么地方有问题，把车拿过去，事先问只检查和
估价，不修的话，要不要收费。检查出问题。然后跟所有当地的修车铺询问报价。一个
开了几十年车的cyride的bus driver推荐Trickles automotive, Lincole way.比较诚
信的一家。另外在Duff和Lincoln way的交叉路口有个sinclair hansen，有free
estimate服务。 |

碰到了黑店。
碰到这种修前跟你说1000，修一会又变2000，修完3000怎么办，感觉一步步掉进圈套。
最可恶的是修完还没修好。
之前修的就是engine，修完感觉车不对，送ames的midas看，他们说要送回原修地，结
果开des moines又坏了，现在又说要一两千换引擎，要拖回来的话还要自己付90拖车费
，到底应该怎么对付他们啊。

500块。
换着换那，最后找了一家local小shop,直接焊上去了。不到100块。

然收费可能高一点（不确定，没有比较过），但是起码每次能把车修好。有一次去修车
还主动告诉我车的问题有recall, 帮我省了我修车史上最大一大笔钱（1k+）。我要是
去别的地方估计也就稀里糊涂的自己交钱修了。

这车的water pump死了，所以发动机过热，车主是个傻叉，不但傻叉，还是个
最具中国特色的傻叉，啥叫中国特色呢？就是相信闭上你的眼睛不去想它，问
题自己就消失了（咱胡锦涛也是这样子的，看当年大使馆被炸，楞是7天7夜不
啃声，第八天才电视上显身说极大愤慨之类的，你愤慨个鸟鸟啊）。
因为这车的water pump恰好是timing belt驱动的，所以由于water pump不会转
了，造成timing belt拖带产生巨大的热量，这个热量烧掉了一切，包括crankshaft
pulley(因为里面有橡胶damper),烧掉了tensioner,我估计tensioner的螺栓都烧死
在里面拧不出来了。所以，第一次我觉得车铺开价1000给这样的车擦屁股收拾残局
是非常合理而恰当的。
如果不出意外，估计这车就是toyota，这里就出现了车铺的问题，车铺技术不精通，
以为toyota的所有发动机是non-interference的,结果全部修好一开发现里面valve
断了，才知道这toyota也生产interference的发动机，于是再要2k拆开head换气门。
估计这乡下小车铺从来没干过这么复杂的活，导致收了2k，换了气门，还是没法修好，
我觉得里面某些小细节没处理好，比如intake manifold gasket没换之类的，造成车
一踩油门就死了，车铺自己也搞不清楚，所以只好说换发动机。
我觉得楼主还是找个有水准的人瞧一瞧，到这个地步，估计剩下的只是小问题了，距离
修好其实已经很接近了。
当然，这不妨碍你问车铺要回你的钱，最后搞得好的话，估计3000钱全部要回来，车再
掏个200就能修好了。
所以，我的建议是，calm down! use your brain,发现问题究竟在哪里。
毕竟都是受过良好教育的。 |

什么的，又花了2000了。关键是修完后几天一开空调车就停了，送回去后，他们开车把
engine又给开死了，这次说彻底要换engine了，不然很难修好。好吧，这次我先找个懂

发帖数: 39 | 28 大大们，和Midas交涉了下，其保险公司拒绝refund.刚咨询了下律师，现在最好的办法
是small claim court要回3000刀。律师费付不起，只能自己出席代表自己了，人生多
了一个圆满了。现在要准备材料，努力想些说服法官的点。 |
