for such skills?

designing and supporting accounting systems. He has MBA degree and computer
science degree.

longevity and often dead end...
Company buys a system with millions of dollars and often ended up keeping it
for long time. As a system analyst in-house, you often ended up supporting
an old system and all the obsolete knowledge you accumulated over the years
will do you no good when you realize you want to change jobs...you ended up
competing with all the young folks...it is sad...
Where I am, I see a lot of students craze about system analyst jobs and a
lot of mid-age system analysts either seeking way out or changing careers or
simply unemployed for a long time...

Hmm.. base on what you said, I guess the best way to go is work in
consultant type of job? You get to work on different project/company.
A little about my background: I am a fresh grad with a MS Accounting Degree.
I am taking my CPA exam (passed 2) and working FT at a non-profit. There
are no room for promotion at my current job and I don't think I will stay in
Non-profit industry.
I am trying to figure whats my next career move after I got my CPA. I don't
think I will enjoy working at an Audit or Tax job. At my current job, I
enjoy working with data and setting up various simple procedure and database
. I wonder if there are "IT/Programmer" Accountant jobs??? | n*******p
发帖数: 231 | 5 Well, there is another type of job called Business Analyst. These type of
people usually are MBAs. They do Excel a lot, do reports regularly, and
report to CFO, CEO, managers, etc. I don't see a lot of Business Analysts. I
personally think these are really bogus jobs, and more and more, these in-
house consultants are outsourced to outside accounting firms. Think about it
, given an established company, who would want you to change or establish
process or procedures? let's say you have the opportunity to do so, then you
really want to question the stability of the company...because a company
without process and procedures usually is not a company with established
culture, you want to be careful to enter that kind of environment...let's
say this is a company with process and procedures in place but in need of
improvement, you really don't get to do the fun part, aka, be the designer
of the new process...you then get yourself in a political dilemma...
I really think you should do more research on career options. I think you
should talk to the people who have those titles and do those type of work.
You might find out whether enjoy talking to them, or you are impressed by
what they do... that is how you find out if you want to go for certain
careers...
