发帖数: 3021 | 1 昨天装fedora 13,最小安装，然后装xorg-x11-server-Xorg,使用xorg-x11-drv-nv驱动
然后装了gdm, gnome-session,gnome-panel得gnome桌面。
一切正常，nv驱动直接识别出1440x900得分辨率。然后设置了好多服务。
结果重起电脑后一启动xwindows桌面就花了，五颜六色的，根本看不清登陆窗口啥的了
然后重装系统，这次更直接，装完Xorg, drv-nv, gnome桌面后启动xwindows桌面就花了
这是怎么回事？为什么一会好用一会不好用?

core， 6g memory。用的是nvidia的driver。
ubuntu10.10 开机一段时间以后gui就变得很慢，top shows xorg 占了一个cpu core，
memory 全用上了。
可能是和vbox ose 有关？但还不确定。不知到有没有人有同样的问题。 |

装了fedora9的最小安装，无xwin，无gnome等
现在想装个基本的xwin，所以
yum install xorg-x11-server-Xorg +dependencies,
yum install xorg-x11-drv-i810 (intel driver)
yum install xorg-x11-xinit
问题来了，startx启动不了，google了一下大概xorg.conf设置有问题，
就让X自动设置了一个， Xorg -configure
然后 X -config ~/xorg.conf.new 这时候xwin启动了，
但是有个错
error setting MTRR (base = 0xe0000000, size = 0x10000000, type = 1) Invalid
argument (22)
似乎xwindows没问题，我就把这个xorg.conf.new考到了/etc/X11/xorg.conf，
startx
靠，奶奶的，写到一半似乎startx也能启动了，先占个坑，有问题了再 |

I don't know where is that configuration file for the "configured video
devices". What you can do is that you backup the old xorg.conf and put my
xorg.conf in.
Make sure you backup your old xorg.conf. It could have something related to

发帖数: 6806 | 23 我不知道你怎么搞的, 除了那个vmware tools kernel header的毛病, 我装fedora从来
没这么多问题, 不管是裸机还是虚拟机.
那个kernel header也不是linux的问题, 是vmware的.
你要说小毛病有没有, 那肯定是有的. 比如说vmware里以前某个版本鼠标停在一个地方
连续点, 会错位. 但是把vmware降一版就好了. 比如说最近xorg在vmware里如果把vmwa
re本身的窗口换一下大小, 就不能正确shutdown X. 这个是xorg的问题, 把xorg降一版
就好了.
我说这些的意思是, 你如果跟windows似的有新版本就升, 那就得自己解决问题. 如果没
时间折腾, 就只升security update. 如果还没时间, 就不要用最新的distro, 用稳定的
比如centos. fedora是很上游的distro, 更新很快的. 我一般服务器每次升三个版本,
比如11->14->17->20. 桌面每次升两版, 当然如果有什么需要的feature就直接升, 但是
出的问题就自己搞定呗. |

learn linux, get a book, and use google.
for your question, it's not debian or gnome's problem. it's you didn't set
Xorg right.
1. make sure your hardware is supported by Xorg.
2. try google xorg dual display (with or without xinerama), there are tons
of
examples available.
without xinerama setting, your dvi and vga port can display seperate desktop,
with it, you can have a continuous desktop

only after i use system-config-display to manually change display to genetic
LCD 1440x900, it will create a xorg.conf.
Do u want me to do that? (that's what they called xorg-conf-less?)
But it will give me another problem:
once i set 1440x900 using system-config-display, when computer
starts, the gdm login will still be 1024x768, only when i login using normal
user, resulution will be changed to 1440x900. if i logout, it will go back

它 pkg 要求另一个版本。gentoo 说是 vnc 对最新支持 xorg-server 还不支持；但是

比如我用Fedora12，udevd如果启动了，往往会和XOrg冲突，结果桌面就freeze了
但是解决方法很简单
1：系统进入桌面后不杀udevd直至出现freeze时，按ctrl+alt+F*，用root用户登录杀
掉udevd后，再杀XOrg，不过这时要ctrl+alt+F7，换个桌面终端
2：系统inetd启动时就杀udevd |

呜呜。我再亲自写个冷笑话。。。
俺用linux也蛮多年了。长年生活在debian下，见证了ubuntu的出现和兴盛。
俺刚用debian的时候，装机最关心的几件事：屏幕分辨率（尤其是laptop widescreen
，常常不是out of box support），汉化（字体），wifi，声卡。
为啥用linux？因为和这里的文青们一样，擅长和文字打交道胜过和人：user manual读
起来比问人容易多拉 XD
当年曾经为乐分辨率和汉化搞过一天阿，整整一天，我的眼睛都花了。。。现在是没那
个体力了。。。
以前为个破配置文件那真是有耐心啊，狗来狗去不解决问题决不罢休！
再后来debian的硬件支持越来越好，啥都是out of box，当然极品的比如mac book的键
盘，用emacs同学最需要的左右meta键映射还是很恶心的（right，我的意思是卸了mac
os装debian）。连wifi也有傻瓜NetwrokManager。。。但是，我喜欢testing／

not supported”而没有正常的显示，所以现在在xwindows下改不回来. 尝试改/etc/
X11/xorg.conf,但是也是不行。另外，曾尝试用
sudo dpkg-reconfigure xerver-xorg但是好像只有键盘的设置，而没有显示器的。不
知道又没有简单的方法可以把刷新率改回来？

for vmware.I didn't even install the generic video driver for xorg, but just
the vm driver. That is the reason X cannot work with your system.
try the following
yum install xorg-x11-drv-vesa
then you should have a generic X driver.
To build an image from minimal install of F10, then add X and fluxbox could
be cleaner for virtualbox.
Haven't try virtualbox yet. Does it have good communication with the host

驱动不兼容问题，需要删除ati官方的fglrx驱动

有一段时间没登录linux了，原来都好的
今天进去发现X进不去了，显示花屏
谷歌出来一个
dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg
但没有选驱动的地方
好像现在都自动检测的
xorg.conf里的都是些default啊，configured device之类的无意义的内容
咋办？
lspic | grep VGA的结果是 ATI RS690 [X1200]

对了，你进入text mode以后最好先把gdm kill了再重新config xorg
sudo killall gdm
然后sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg，然后一步步来 |
