流行之后,新英格兰地区印第安部落人口只剩下原来的三分之一左右。“五月花”号移
民的登陆地就是已经绝灭的原Patuxet亚部落所在地。
早在10年多前,当一些英国人在美洲东岸弗吉尼亚建立村镇的时候,已迁居荷兰的
英国分离派教徒也一直筹划着移民美洲新大陆。1620年8月,他们准备了两艘船,但其
中一艘不断漏水,于是就把人货合并到“五月花”号上。“五月花”号的目的地本来是
