south. There are not a lot of McMansions in the northeast region.
Of course, the price is also very impressive. Walpole itself is not a very
upscale town. It is OK, it is even a little bit notorious due to the state
prison, whose security level is Maximum.
I definitely would like to live there if I could afford to send my kids to
private schools. The only issue is Tolls Brothers still keeps the options

to discredit it by saying no local police record was found for the incident
anywhere at Foxboro, Plainville, Walpole...the surrounding towns. In the end
, they had to backtrack their statement as somebody pointed them the actual
accident log recorded by Walpole police last week. Walpole police also

卧室可能是一个人见到的第一、也是最后一个景象。
今天的准妈妈们都还是有一些不安，但在过去，怀孕的风险可要高得多。对年轻女性来
讲，分娩可说是人生的一大考验，于是随着预产期步步紧逼，就寝的卧室也成了一个可
怕、令人望而生畏的地方。在中世纪，怀孕的死亡率是五十分之一，但当时每位女性通
常都得生十几个孩子，所以对于还有生育能力的女性来说，出事的概率实在不低。在都
铎王朝时期，很多怀孕的女性都会在产前为自己画幅肖像，原因有些凄美。分娩过程开
始之后，她们可能就永远见不到自己的丈夫了。而有了肖像画，至少她们的亲人能留下
所爱最后的影像。
讲到自然生产，都铎王朝时期就已经知道一项真理：地心引力帮得上忙。16 世纪的王

。其中的一些著述强调英国工业革命的重要作用，以致给人一种印象，即近代英国的崛
起主要归因于在英国率先开始的工业革命。这其实是一个似是而非的错觉。因为，所谓
“崛起”，是一个特定的概念，特指一个相对弱小的国家在它所处 国际体系内力量排
位的快速提升，成为该体系内的一流大国；至于数一数二的顶级大国继续壮大的历程，
或一流大国之间的相互赶超，则不应划入“崛起”的范畴。 换言之，“崛起”不是指
一国力量“绝对值”的不断提高(因为近代以来几乎所有国家的绝对力量都在不断增长)
，而是指较弱小国家之国力在国际力量对比中的 “相对值”的急剧上升。
就此而言，英国从1688年之前的一个欧洲二流国家壮大为1763年西方世界的头号强国，
完成了崛起的过程。在此之后发生的工业革 命，虽然促使了英国经济实力之绝对值的
急剧提升，使其工业生产能力遥遥领先于其他欧洲国家，但它仅仅是巩固和增强了英国
已有的大国地位，或者说是促使英国 崛起后的继续壮大。

文化与汉学的教席，名为“丁龙汉学讲座教授（Dean Lung Professor）”。1901年由
贺拉斯．沃尔普．卡朋蒂埃（Horace Walpole Carpentier）资助设立，目的是纪念一
个目不识丁、但却集中国传统伦理道德于一身的华裔工人丁龙。
卡朋蒂埃（1824-1918）出生于纽约，毕业于哥伦比亚大学，之后成为了一名律师，曾
担任过加利福尼亚州奥克兰市的首任市长。1888年，他回到了故乡纽约，并被选为哥伦
比亚大学校董。
在加州期间，卡朋蒂埃雇佣了丁龙为自己的男仆，打理日常家务。回纽约后，卡朋蒂埃
居住在上州高文镇，丁龙跟随其来到了纽约。由于公事繁忙，卡朋蒂埃时常谩骂丁龙。
在一次因为琐事发脾气后，他解雇了丁龙。

发帖数: 10098 | 38 曾听到多方面的hao评，包括贷款银行的人都说那镇子上的邻里比较团结，没有Dover那
种极富和极贫老死不相往来的现象，有许多从纽约长大搬过来的比较开明的白人家庭，
高中麻省考试一直名列前矛，初中分数比Newton的几间初中更高更稳。房价比西边的几
个W字母的镇稍微便宜那么一点点而已，如果上班交通方便的话，在那儿买房比较划算
， 还可以从Walpole坐火车。
