1. Starting up time is really fast (<=8 seconds from many devices)
2. All touch compatiable full-screen UI with so-called "Metro" UI (live
tiles); both mouse/keyboard and touch supported at the same time.
3. New APIs (with Visual Studio 2011) supporting all those MS langagues from
HTML5/Javascript, VB/C#, C/C++ to XAML/Siverlight. The demo of porting a

i have tried and purchased a few other codeviewers for iOS, aside from the
lack of functionality, the UIs' are UGLY. But these are exceptions, very
beautiful, the fonts, colors, themes are all impressive, like what one could
expect for emacs color theme. Unlike the other apps, these three also
include a real interpreter/compiler (i suppose?), one could run the program,
not just syntax check ...

used all, but now thinks all of these are maintenance nightmare for the long
run and he does not recommend to use any.
So I need to make a call to let developers continue to spend more time hand-
tuning html tables or use these more advanced tool.
I don't need fancy UIs at all. Functionality and response speed are the top
concerns. Jquery seems to be popular.
I guess I'll have them experience JQuery a bit.

excellent, 2x better than SWT and MFC. It is one of the best Java APIs. Why
Swing is slow in delivering new, good-looking UIs? Because every time Swing
has to re-implement everything at the cross-platform level. And UI
programming is actually very difficult. |

before I changed job and in current position spending 70% work time on
javascript vs 30% on java for 3 years.
It's still a challenge for me and a lot to learn/handle, in terms of
writing enterprise level's rich/dynamic UIs based on javascript.
Of course, we use framework on top of javascript, but underneath still
javascript programming. It's OO style javascript programming with framework
API supports.

without JVM. BTW, it is already meet the .NET counterpart (UI libraries). I
would be laughing to see the look and feel on a phone. BTW, the
functionalities of the lib is just the UIs. The library comes with JVM. A
library can not claim platform's feature as its own functionality. |
