an regular CDO, the issuer first buys the underlying assets (bonds, MBS, etc
), then slice the asset pool into tranches. buyers are interested in the
cash flow the underlying assets provide. When you "buy" such a tranche, you
receive coupon payments, when default happened the issuer gets credit
protection payment from you to offset the loss on the underlying he owns.

的，如果是144A tranche的话，只有机构可以买。资金门楷应该没有国内那么高，不过

我的粗浅理解是这些债券算是早期所罗门兄弟那些人的创新。银行放的loan，同质的
load给pool在一起，由投行给分成不同tranches, 再由某些机构如两房AIG等给盖个猪
肉合格图章(CDS), 打包成债券卖给投资人。
