instructive. In my twenties and thirties and even on into my forties, James
Joyce and Thomas Mann were my teachers. I read everything they wrote.
Both were writing in terms of what might be called the mythological

Joan Sutherland, one of the most acclaimed sopranos of the 20th century,
died on Sunday at her home in Switzerland, near Montreux. She was 83.

天暗暗的吹着细雪，不知日夜。有些东西从海面上飘了过来。
海浪轻送，那东西越来越近，却原来是几片舢板，里面横七竖八躺了十几个流浪客。
他们中多数都已昏迷，只有两三个还有意识。他们看到了一片新的陆地！两个人勉强直
起身来，连滚带爬冲上了海滩。碎石如刀，割裂了他们的脚。红红的血沾染了这片处女
地。
这两人很快意识到，这里就是孤悬海中的鲲岛，又称福尔摩沙、台湾。我们也将很快知
道这两人的名字，他们是颜思齐、郑芝龙。西方史料中则称之为Pedro China和
Nicholas Iquan。
从此，他们将为这里带来杀戮兵燹，却也将带来火种刀耕……
这就是我想象中的一部大河剧的第一幕，这应该是一部中日台合拍的大河剧，主角是郑
成功。但是故事的开场，却是1624年颜思齐和郑芝龙等二十八个浪人阴谋颠覆平户藩。
他们计败之后，从日本国星夜出逃，来到了当时还全未开发的台湾岛。
随着一曲南管箫声的渐弱，另一曲日本风味较浓的尺八曲接入。镜头切到日本平户，郑
