texshop用的是texlive, 不是teTex.
我现在安装lyx, 但是好像lyx用的tex是tetex.
我安装完lyx,
有下面的信息：
can not create /usr/local/teTex/share/texmf.local/tex/latex directory,
please do so manually.
我想问：
怎么解决这个问题？
重新下载teTex, 可能可以，但是和texlive 好像重复了，浪费。

teTeX, fpTeX, or something else.
LaTeX searches for files in a database, not on disk, so after you install
a package, you need to update the database. For teTeX, run "texhash";
for MikTeX, go through the MikTeX menus and look for "Refresh/update
filename database"; for fpTeX, look for "Rebuild ls-R filename databases".
For some distributions the command "mktexlsr" also works.

其实lyx和word有点象， 还是不要多用。
texshop用的是texlive2007, 刚刚推出的， 很大很全， 解压缩之后1.3Gb.
lyx用的是teTex,这个作者已经停止开发了。
但是lyx还没有更新。
安装texshop很简单， 就按照Richard Koch的网站上进行。
然后安装lyx, 不要安装tex, 因为已经有了texlive.
在安装结束后会得到一些错误信息。
因为他会 抱怨没有找到teTex.
只要打开lyx:preferences:paths:path prefix
在最前面加上/usr/texbin 就可以了，这样就可以找到texlive了
我的麻烦在于我下载了fink, fink加了很多路径在lyx里面， 搞的很乱。 |

...这些东西都什么关系？这些东西哪个包含哪个？
我用 sudo apt-get install 命令的时候，后面到底应该安装哪些个包就足够呢？
我不知道，现在只能每个都装了一下
然后我启动kile，新建一个文档，build的时候，得出的信息是
Cannot open log file; did you run Latex
我用google搜索了一堆，还是没有找出问题在哪儿，只能这里问了

package management很不错，跟debian有的一拼，软件量不太多，绝对够用了
装emacs+tetex+auctex+pdf没问题
matlab轻松
配置也方便，安装网卡需要一点时间，别的都很轻松

link to it, so yap invokes either a built-in or an external
PS interpreter to disply the actual EPS file. The problem is
likely occurring when you run dvipdf or dvips-ps2pdf, but I
have never seen anything like this happen with teTeX on
Linux. I don't think it has anything to do with winedt.
Are you using MikTeX or some other (La)TeX distribution? |

"texconfig" to set the default paper size and dpi resolution for dvips
(and xdvi too). Or you can edit /usr/share/texmf/dvips/config.ps
directly if you know what you are doing. |

teTeX) is to run it off the TeXLive CDs from TUG; I
think it uses TrueType fonts, but only in the Ming/Fang-Song
style (no Kai, Li, Hei). When I tried to install it on my own,
I could not get it to work.
If anyone has notes on getting CJK to work, please kindly
share it. I'm sure it is of interest to everyone here. |

is a latex option. In higher version latex (I tried tetex-3.0 package),
pdflatex embeds all the fonts by default. However, font subsetting in .eps/.
pdf figures depends on the source applications that generates these figures. e
.g. matlab do only embed/not subset fonts when exporting eps/pdf figures, I
even can not find an option to change this setting.
One solution is to use third-party tools to subset fonts in eps/pdf |

/home/userid/texmf/tex/latex/.../prosper.cls
then run the command "texhash" or "mktexlsr" to update the files
database.
You can also put the file under /usr/local/share/texmf/tex/latex/...
and then run texhash or mktexlsr as root. |

I used to use pstricks package on a Redhat 7.3 machine, where
everything was taken care of. I now need to use this package
on a Solaris machine where I have not root prevelige. What I did
was as follows:
1. I created a .texmf dir under my home dir,
copied all .tex files to .texmf/tex/generic/pstricks,
all .sty files to ./texmf/tex/latex/pstricks
2. put the following line in my .cshrc:
setenv TEXINPUTS .:/nfs/phantom/u10/rende/.texmf//:/usr/local/apps/teTeX/texmf/tex//
