到santa clara dmv想去延期这个temporary driver license，结果直接给换成
instructive permit,这样就不可以自己开车上路了

今天拿到一个temporary research associate的offer,6个月，说是可能延长到10个月
。工资和博后差不多。自己买保险之类的话可能还要少一点了。
面试的时候和几个人谈了谈，感觉做的挺低级的，就做centrifugation，可能加一点
chromatography.不过这个工作的POSTING的要求只是本科毕业，一年实验室经验。
不知道这个工作对以后找工作有没有帮助，从技术上好像没有。另外没有电话面试就让
我去on-site,刚回来就有HR打电话说特别喜欢我，要我星期一就去orientation.
PS:正在原来老板的实验室做生物博后，OPT开始了几个月。没有找博后的动力，不过6个月
以后这个temporary工作结束，不知道怎么样。
求建议，多谢！ |

1) "my feeling" is that you may not need to prepare that much and you can
get visa without problem.
2) you do not have to provide pre-paid envelope, they will return the
document is certified mail (in two
weeks in my case--a little longer than the cases I heard who provided pre-
paid return envelope)

第一次三个月期限。到了三个月收到一封信，被告知还是不能回去。
我有两个选择，一是再延三个月TEMPORARY LAYOFF，另外一个是终止和公司的关系。
后一种，我可以拿到TERMINATION PAY。
我选择了第一种，因为很喜欢这家公司。
三个月后，又收到一封信，被告知还是不能回去。
这次，公司给了TERMINATION PAY。正式终止和公司的关系。
另外，在TEMPORARY LAYOFF期间，我仍然有公司的福利，还是公司的员工。

有的州，比如田纳西，如果是拿visa的，不是美国公民,办的“正式”驾照上面会加一
个“temporary”的字样。不会再给一个正式版本，带temporary字的就是最终版本了。
如果是本州美国人，正式驾照上没有这个字。和过期不过期是两回事。大部分别的州都
没有这个政策，所以可能很多人不知道。
至于楼主说的租车公司的政策，我想那个Temporary指的是临时驾照，不是你这种情况
吧。你还是打电话问问租车公司吧。 |

full time job。找到full time job,就跳。这个好像不太可能吧？

本人在LA，急需加拿大签证去那儿工作面试，本来可以去LA的加拿大领馆提交
temporary visit的签证申请。结果LA加拿大领馆的网页实在做得很迷惑人，在点击了
准备下载申请表格的那个link后被带到了这个网页http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/visa.asp,网页的最上方讲居然还可以online提交申请而且说很快。 因为心里想快些拿到签证，就阴差阳错用了这个online的方法，过程是顺利，一切都是扫描document上传包括passport都是。结果提交了以后才发现这个online方法实际上应该是提供给已经在canada境内的人申请visa用的，所以处理时间是暴长，网页上说... 阅读全帖 |

申请成功了。
新泽西的医生一般给开的假是前4周，后6周共10周。按due date填就可以了，这是医生
决定的，你无权修改。如果生晚了，还可以请医生按实际生产日期延长。如果早了，你
不就多赚了产后几天假么，偷着乐就行了，也不用改什么。
这10周的假，必须首先用自己积攒的sick day来cover，薪水会全额发放。cover不了的
，由temporary disability来cover，发薪水的60%，最多$590/week（记不清具体数据
了，自己查吧）。如果法律规定有1周gap没有pay，那就谁都没有办法规避。我家是LP
单位HR弄的，我不太清楚有没有gap。
生产6周以后，如果身体不适，可以请医生接着开病假条，接着用temporary
disability。如果身体恢复不错，但还想继续在家休息，就只能先用自己的vacation/
floating holiday来cover，薪水全额发放。如果假不够多，只能是unpaid leave或者

一直在版里潜水，从这里得到很多帮助，就写一个自己申请日本签证的经验，看能不能

我个人情况：H1B，返美签证早过期了，在日本没有任何认识人。12月份休假回家，想
顺道去日本玩一周，从Seattle出发
开始我的计划是，西雅图-大阪（玩）-北京-西雅图
但是西雅图现在也没有直飞大阪的航班（我想去关西），要从温哥华，首尔，或者东京转机。最便宜的机票是韩亚航空，首尔转机的票。
我想了一下，到首尔去等好几个小时还不如直接回家，北京飞大阪也就2个小时。何况
我还给家里的亲戚朋友带了很多东西，从日本入关出关的会很麻烦。
所以，最后行程调整为：西雅图-北京-大阪（玩）-北京-西雅图
确定行程之后，有点担心因为是从中国往返日本，会不会被刁难让我回国去签日本签证
，结果完全没有这个问题。
