Starved Rock State Park在Illinois，跟Iowa隔着密西西比河，但距离四城也就是一
个半钟的路程，就算在四城的景色吧。那位说了，这是公然强占的行为，哎，这么说不
好听，读书人的事儿怎么能说是强占呢，只能说是暂借。
沿着I-80一直往东，从四城开出去大概70miles，就到了Starved Rock State Park。这
个公园出名的是小瀑布特别多，但是，也算是欺名盗誉吧，今天到了那里才发现这个季
节没有水。要看瀑布的话，得初春的时候去。不过，Visitor Center的老先生很诚恳地
告诉我，去trail走一走，会有收获的。走下来发现，确实不虚此行，至少给下次来拍
秋色探探路。

全美十大看红叶的去处之一(牛阿, 大雾山都没排上号, 也不知道是何方神圣给排
的名, 让我想起了著名的"中国大学排行榜"), 十月底天冷叶子变红的时候就是最好的
时候.

Starved Rock紧挨着Illinois River, 据说当年有一伙印第安人被围困在这块石头上
饿死而得名. 有修好的栈道通到石头的顶端, 算是一个制高点, 把附近的景色尽收眼
底. 叶子红的时候, 红黄绿显出层次, 若天气晴朗有阳光照射, 确实是赏心悦目.
当然谁也说不准叶子什么时候红. Riemann同学号称只看到了一颗红叶树 -- 我们在没
上石头顶的时候也只看到了一棵 -- 不知道是不是同一棵:). |

如果是为了看红叶红叶，Starved rock景色一般，很多树都不会变色，如果不是因为靠
着一条河，实在没什么可看的
强烈推荐离Starved rock15分钟左右的另一个state park, Matthiessen。那里的
hiking trail景色相对漂亮的多

大侠和俺认识的几个美国人都推荐过，illinois river那一段有个大坝，风景也不错。
带着俺一只新竿和一只新轮，兴冲冲地开车71迈，抵达starved rock，进入公园俺就发
现，咋车子都是路边趴车？parking lot都是铁将军把门，俺定睛一看，原来所有
parking lot都被淹了。找地方趴好车，俺兴冲冲背上背包，手拿鱼竿，直奔传说中钓
鱼的地方，远远望去，只见几只野鸭野鹅游弋，路上草地都是湿漉漉黏糊糊，等俺走近
一观察，原来此处也被淹。
钓不鱼，只好奔去陪ld hiking，爬上爬下的楼梯，比钓鱼累多了，登高远望，拍了几
张照片，河中有一个岛屿，名字居然是。。。。。。

hiking累得俺呼哧呼哧，仿佛当年在北海的星岛湖爬山，ld背着背包，俺跟在后面。。
。好容易遇到一个bench，俺一屁股坐下就不走了。。。
傍晚回程，俺要去绕道顺路去趟for river @ yorkville的水坝，现在正是河里小嘴欲

发帖数: 530 | 9 最近校园里的叶子红的厉害, 我决定去Starved Rock看看. 夏天的时候去过一次, 看
到的是一片葱郁还有水色, 此番去想来水还是那水, 然而风光应该另有风味了.
沿I-80一直向西, 有两个出口可以到. 一个是Ottawa, 另一个是Utica. 想知道当地天气
的可以用这两个地名在天气预报网页上查. Utica在Ottawa西边一点儿, 但去vistor
center 要快一些. 景色是ottawa一路开着好看一些. 建议可以去的时候从utica走(先到
visitor center拿信息), 回从ottawa, 两边都不缺, 也不走回头路.
主要景观自然是Starved Rock, 离visitor center很近. Overlook不错, 可惜底下有一
大坝 -- 热爱自然风光的朋友就不一定喜欢了. 光是这个肯定不过瘾, 当然要hiking一
把. 就沿着修好的trail走, 主要的交叉路口都有地图, 沿途也有标记指示 --好好看地
图上的说明便是.
我们先沿水边先到"情人跳"(lover's leap)再到"鹰之崖"(eagle cliff). 窃以为eagle

得两个小时的车程（西北郊）。
地址：294——》55--》80 路挺顺的，单程100迈。返回的路上可以顺路在naperville

活动：
这次就走了走trail,从游客中心到council overhang把主要的canyon 都看了。本来以
为今年雨水不少，有多壮观的瀑布呢。结果除了laSalle还算的上是个瀑布外，其他基
本都是枯的。还是那句话，期望值不高，所以没有瀑布看看峡谷也不错。来回8迈基本
都是平路，bluff trail一点上下台阶。
伊利诺伊河可以划船，说心里话，那泥浆水不怎么让人提起兴趣。
有个大坝，钓鱼应该不错。
附近还有两个公园，可以安排一个周末
阴天下雨，峡谷里光线本来也不好，所以就不上照片了。 |

发帖数: 586 | 20 四城这里可以到赌场玩儿一下，沿着密西西比河旁的trail走一走或者骑车，还有就是
河坝14和河坝15 (Lock & Dam 14 and 15). 在河坝15旁边是石岛城兵工厂(Rock
Island Arsenal),内有一展览馆，对兵器有兴趣的也可以看一看。来这里玩儿，可以到
Dynasty Buffet吃中餐，水平一般，但是有就不错了。
现在许多地方都可以看bald eagle了，比如这个Starved Rock，否则沿着密西西比河，
有许多看bald eagle的地点。
如果时间合拍，有朋友来玩儿的时候我在这里（我周末经常跑出去），我这里免费接待
。带上你们自己的睡袋就好了。 |

就象我回帖所说的，当吃的太少时，人体就进入starving mode (我回帖中误说成“储
存状态”），反而使人体基础卡路里降低，使减肥停滞不前。我在上次减肥活动时，曾
经有一段时间，吃的很少，低于1000卡，体重停滞不前，然后吃得更少，还是没有用。
后来版上有人提醒，吃的卡路里太少，一时使身体进入starving mode ，二是对身体健
康非常不利，于是我加大卡路里到1000以上，反而体重开始减了，这就是神奇的
starving mode，google 一下“starving mode”就可以看到很多这样的文章。 |

识到了，真

利益者，
要想停止就很难很难了。所以从里根开始就指出小政府是tax少，最后starve the
beast。不过
现在这个beast天天靠借钱过日子了。
民主国家要想cut spending是不可能的。除非出现欧洲那样的债务危机。也就是beast
