NetBSD is a good choice, linux is also an option. Slowris
is way slow. OpenBSD focus more on security. Not sure
about SCO.
SCSI in SS2 is the slower SCSI standard. It is generic

computer lab machines are all sparcs, now you see all those PII, PIII
Wintel machines donated by Intel and/or Microsoft instead.
Linux is extremely popular in academia, the growing trend is
school admins start installing nt/linux dual boots in labs :P
Supercomputing facilities are still being dominated by AIX though,
the growing trend is they are being replaced by linux or NT clusters. |

idea to install Solaris x86 if you want to do some real work.
There aren't many packages for this OS. Either switch to Linux
or use Solaris for SPARC. But if you just want to get a feel of
Solaris with your PC, then go ahead. |

the CPU model.
only dmesg | grep SPARC gives out the speed.

architectural difference being the reason. Is there a way to specify the
architecture as a macro before compiling so gcc understands it? BTW, gcc does
support i*86 on Solaris, is it right? Thanks in advance. |

我想打映,把他们考到emacs中,此前已经将mule选成cn-gb-2312,
这时在emacs中看到的是乱码
(也试过 chinese-hz, 我不知道这两种语言环境的区别)
然后用cnprint 将它们转换成ps 文件,
cnprint -w filename -o=ps_filename.ps
转换中说识别出来的是GB or BIG5, treat as GB, (虽然并没有BIG5)
然后说转换完毕,可是ps 文件全是乱码,
我也试着在emacs中输入中文(mule : cn-gb-2312 or chinese-hz),可以看见是可识别的
中文,存盘用cnprint转换后,还是乱码
我用的是cnprint3.3,是不是因为要在cnprint命令行中设置字体?
哪位给点提示,谢先!
在本版中没有找到关于cnprint的内容
或者有什么别的方法可以打印网页上的中文? |

isn't mounted now. And anything you create may result on the / partition which
contains that. what's your /etc/vfstab, and which partition you have problem?
Strongly suggest you don't touch anything until find someone to fix it.
I heard that there are tools like undelete/hard disk recovery, but it will
create very huge number of data (200M original will let me few Giga row data)
important stuff need back up, not recover |

The FTP sever is the only machine on this T1 line.
when I ping it it's slow.
time=480ms TTL=243
How come???? Maybe many users are dowloading from out FTP server.
Can it be the reason?
The OS is Solaris 8.THe server is ultra-sparc II 360 MHZ.
Memory is 1 G.
By the way, is there any way that I can monitor how many users are
downloading? |
