The sun solaris 7 (sparc ultra 5) on screensaver mode went awry when I turn
the monitor by 90 degree to another direction and when I key in anything it
just gave me weird symbols. and even 'stop - A' does not work. So I power off
the machine and back on, then this is what's on the screen: |

not for PC or other different-CPU based machine. so i don't think
you can install Windows and Solaris on one machine.

in my C file , I wanna use such variables
using
extern int mbr_blocks to define it at the beginning of the cboot.c
but the error say"mbr_blocks undeclared"
Is there any suggestion of what's going on.
It is just urgent cause this is due tomorrow.

nCD里面了，可是在哪呢？

8)上用网络装solaris 10。这台服务器以前名叫aaa，ip x.x.x.1，后来买了新机器就直
接关机扔仓库，新机器占了aaa的名字和ip。现在一开机，刚刚test
memory完毕就报告machine with hard address aa:bb:....:ff trying to use our ip
x.x.x.1云云，然后就死循环一直报告下去，根本没有到给shell的地方。在dhcp和dns
server改了mac address对应的ip也不管用。估计用的是static ip。如果拔了网线呢，在
刚才那一步就一直报告SUNW,hme0: Link Down - cable problem?
然后也是死循环。按stop-a，会给扔到一个类似shell的地方，prompt是ok，但肯定不是u
nix shell.
请问一下在这种情况下我该怎么办？另外那台新机器是服务器，绝对不能断开或者改名。

ram, 2*73G HardDrive.
买来就后悔了,哈,因为太重了, 噪音也挺大, 没有经验啊,不应该买Server,应该买个
workstation,或者扁扁的那种,估计那种噪音会比较小.
顺便问个问题,
正在装oracle 10, HardDrive2 is mounted to /export/home0,
能不能把/export/home0/apps mount(or mapping?) to /apps? tried, got this
error: /export/home0/apps not a block device |

375 (clock speed) * 2 (flops per cycle) * 8 (cpu number) = 6 Gflops
For AMD 3000+ (2.8GHz I assume?),
2.8G (clock speed) * 2 (flops per cycle) = 5.6 Gflops
So they have roughly the same peak FP performance. Considering SMP will be
usually harder to achive the same effiency comparing to one single CPU, what
you see is just normal.
Ultra Sparc sucks at FP computations, simply due to Sun's "portability"
strategy at design |

Intel的group是做 CPU Core design，Hillsboro
Oracle的SPARC group，Santa Clara
工作内容都是做digital circuit design，入门级别的level
待遇来说Base Intel 75K，Oracle要多30K左右；Intel的bonus10%不到；Oracle HR只
告诉说有bonus，取决于部门表现，但没有说多少。所以考虑消费水平，待遇也差不多。
自己综合起来两个offer都差不多，想听听大家建议。 |

处理器，好像叫飞腾，据说是参照OpenSparc T1做的，但至少也是自己做的。这两款差
距跟世界主流还是很大，跟Xeon和Sparc， PowerPC差距都很大。但移动处理器差距好
像真没很大，海思出品的麒麟SOC，八核大小核，跟高通似乎差距没想象那么大，至少
能让华为的荣耀跑起来还算流畅。 |
