network addon 太多大大影响PAGE SPEED. 另外网页慢, bounce rate就高, bounce
rate也是个排名因素. 当然我倾向于同意social network link的排名因素比PAGE
SPEED重要, 但是bounce rate的排名因素应该比social network link重要.
所以综合来说倒底给网页加social link是不是值得还真难说.

不多。大部分social network以失败告终。
和social network类似的，很多个人创业的，很容易的就想，做个论坛啥的，聚人气，
然后想法monetize流量。但据我体会和分析，很难成功。首先，论坛和two sided
market差不多。其次，论坛的monetization很难。因为本质上，网友互动是社会行为，
如果掺杂了商业行为的话，会引起网友倒戈，忠实的网友都可能用脚投票。实践上，
Facebook, 新浪微博等，都暴露了这方面的问题。
所以，总体来讲，social network以及论坛性质的网络创业，很难。商业模式不清晰是
其一，如何聚集流量的问题是其二. 最近Quora转向，也证明了这点。光靠UGC, 是不行
的。搞不好就成了公共厕所（说法出处: 见网友评某bbs)
所以，我觉得social network创业，是个误区。提供确确实实的人家需要的服务，和无
与伦比的先进技术，才是正道。 |

，结果我们欠了联邦一万刀。
举个例子：LD的同一个公司的2009和2010的W2 (每年都工作了部分时间）
2009
wages: 52737
Federal tax withheld: 7868
Social security tax withheld: 511
Medicare: 120
Total tax withheld: 16%
2010
Wages:42450
Federal: 2080
Social security tax: 2918
Medicare: 682
Total tax withheld: 13%
叫的税都差不多，可是明显2010年 federal 少很多，所有的税都跑到social security
tax里面去了。结果今天算税的时候，发现全家要欠联邦很多钱。
请问是不是哪里出了问题啊？Social security tax也算作联邦税么？ |

业前的学校给的，里面没扣social security tax和medical tax；另一份是opt期间的
，里面已扣social security tax和medical tax。我疑惑的问题有：
1. 我应该以resident的身份报今年的税吧（所以可以用Turbotax保税）？
2. 第二份W2里所缴的social security tax和medical tax是由于F1转opt还是
nonresident转resident引起的（我毕业之前从没缴过social security tax和medical
tax）？
3. 尝试了Turbotax，发现最后还要补交联邦税，是否是因为要补交第一份W2里的
social security tax和medical tax？像我这种情形是否一般都要补税？

我很早就是resident alien了。2012年开始做博后, 开始学校发的的paycheck都有扣
social security和medicare, 2012年年底的时候把我的social security 和 medicare
又退回来了。2013年一整年的social security和medicare都没有交。2014年一月又开
始征收这两项税。现在要报2013年的税了，想问问究竟怎么回事。。。
我去网上考古的结论是postdoc的话，social security/medicare都要交税的。

现在医疗领域的SOCIAL WORKER吃回扣已经是公开的秘密了。
比如医院里的SOCIAL WORKER，负责安排病人转到NURSING HOME或是帮助病人安排HOME
HEALTH公司。
安排谁不安排谁送哪家NURSING HOME，SOCIAL WORKER就有很大影响力。
随便一起HOME HEALTH的CASE，就是几千美元或是更多。如果按照中国不成文的规定，
10%的话，你算算，就是1，2都不少了，医院每天有多少出院的病人？
HOME HEALTH公司，别的地方我不知道，在CHICAGO地区，都快被菲律宾人垄断了。他们
为什么能生存？用屁股就能想通了。
看看我上面贴的那个案件，一个没几个人的HOME HELAHT公司，几年就从MEDICARE拿了
几千万美元。做HOME HEALTH，没什么成本。这里面，除了工钱，就是打点各种关系。

她见识可不一定比你低。人家年纪轻轻都正教授了。
不过，她的确是个不太喜欢social的人，所以一直不怎么出名。其实在我看来她的学术
水平比很多领域里所谓的明星只高不低。
我想你们两吵起来的原因可能是你们对"social"的定义不一样吧。你可能把那种和领域
里的人的正常来往都定义成了social, 她则以为你说的是那种挖空心思和大牛攀关系那
种social。
对于前一种，我们当然必须鼓励。在我自己的经历看来吧，我做的是一个特别生僻冷门
的东西，每次申请什么资金的时候大部分人的反应都是，这个是什么鬼东西？先拒了再
说！ 我们系里的senior们因此对我非常照顾，每次学校里来了什么访问者，只要做的
东西和我的沾边的，都会让他们来见我，让我解释我做的东西。然后他们都会大吃一惊
说居然还有我做的这个领域。我觉得这些经历对我还是很有用的。反正今年我就拿到了
一笔做癌症的小钱。虽然很小，但是毕竟是第一笔来自癌症领域的钱。我见的那么几十
个做癌症的人中，其中到底有没有一两个在其中起了正面作用我不敢肯定，但是至少是
没有反作用的吧。

我真的是不想理你这种歪理，不过觉得还是应该说说不同的观点。你这是本末倒置。好
好做自己research，在学术界占一席之地才是正道。

不少人说得好，你没有货，谁跟你social，你有价值，人家就会和你network。以为
social是生存技能，过分强调这个，没有用的，你会发现是浪费时间。

有实力还会social当然如鱼得水。没有实力只会social，且不说很难拿到机会，拿到机
会以后怎么办是个大问题。而有实力，不会social，大家可能不会喜欢你，但是至少会
尊重你。 |

很不会social的，比如跟女生都不敢说话，跟喜欢的女孩不敢表白的，要找个好对象的
难度应该远大于比较擅于social的。
至于你老公不擅于social，到底有没有影响他找对象，就得看你是不是个好对象了。 |

楼主的帖子里针尖对麦芒的观点，难道不是说 car dealer 店里所谓的
social skill 比码工们好上一万倍的 sales，平均赚的钱跟码工还没
法比。
关键是 car dealer sales 最最悲催时候是，是遇到夹着砖头重的 15 英寸
工程型笔记本电脑毫无 social skill 码工进来，操着半生不熟的英语，指
着某辆车说“俺就要这个颜色的这个车，就是门口，xxx 钱卖给我，卖不卖？
卖的话就去 testdrive”。sales 前台后台开始忽悠，忽悠没几句，码工
啪地打开笔记本电脑，敲几个字符，显示出方圆 15 mile 内所有 dealer
当天 active 的广告。sales 忽悠说广告归广告，人家未必有车。码工
又敲几字，显示出所有一小时内的 email 实际 quote 价。sales 只好
哭穷开始用极其复杂的算法，来算这个价要亏钱。。。码工看了一眼，说
您算法复杂算错也就算了，还漏算了 volume rebate。。。sales 崩溃

俩人完全一样。
而是应该比较同一个人，有social skill和木有social skill的区别。 |

我觉得这个不仅是Preschoolers，适用于各个年龄段的孩子，自小学至初中，高中。学
习social skill 真是需要caring adults。最自然的情况，首先是父母，然后是祖父母
，然后是uncles and aunts, 然后是父母的朋友，邻居，学校的老师，球队的教练，等
等。
对于我们这样的第一代移民，教养孩子social skills 一个很大的挑战和难处是身边缺
少community of caring adults. |

treasure“，是增加social，融入“主流社会“的捷径，呵呵
自己以前也是一直觉得棒球很无聊，跟自己，跟中国人没什么关系。对棒球的规则也是
一知半解。多年来小孩一直是soccer，hockey，ski，basketball。去年小孩参加棒球
队打AAA league，我陪着练。今年继续，同时我做队里的assistant coach。算是对棒
球，尤其是棒球文化，有了比较深入了解。和大家分享讨论一下。
因为没有身体对抗，对跑步速度也没什么要求，棒球算是一项门槛很低的team sports
。运动素质不高的孩子同样可以enjoy，时不时蒙个run神马的。即使很差的孩子也经常
能够walk （因为pitcher的水平也不一定高）。也因此，棒球算是老美参加最广泛的
team sports。孩子，家长对其的关注度也最高。参与其中对提高孩子和家长的social

social security和medicare, 2012年年底的时候把我的social security 和 medicare
又退回来了。2013年一整年的social security和medicare都没有交。2014年一月又开
始征收这两项税。现在要报2013年的税了，想问问究竟怎么回事。。。
我去网上考古的结论是postdoc的话，social security/medicare都要交税的。
谁能说说这是怎么回事？？？ |
