转攻户外WiFi服务 分析员错愕 股价挫3％
【明报专讯】加西有线网络商Shaw Communications(代号SJR.B)昨宣布，取消筹备已
久的传统手机网络计划，转而為现有客户发展户外WiFi无线上网服务。但分析员认為，
这样做错过了发展迅速、利润最高的手机数据传送服务潮流。投资者有同感，Shaw股价
跌3％。
Shaw总部设在卡加利，在2008年投得手机无线频谱，但其后多次延迟推出手机无线服务
。它决定完全放弃手机网络计划，无异放弃电讯领域中最赚钱的一环。
和Shaw同时获得无线频谱的新手机网络商如Wind Mobile，早已开始了服务。现在Shaw
决定放弃，转而集中发展WiFi，其中一个原因是WiFi佔用的频谱是免费使用；况且现在
建立一个手机无线网络既昂贵，竞争也太剧烈，对它这些缺乏规模经营的新进服务商并
不划算。
Shaw解释，建立户外WiFi网络，容许该公司扩展流动宽频互联网服务，而毋须承担建立

我也在看地板。一般的Review认为Shaw要比Bruce高挡一点。当然也要贵一些。
我不是很清楚到底是品牌更重要呢还是木料的种类更重要。比如说Shaw或者是Somerset
的Oak一般也要４－７刀，而HomeDepot的Brazilian cherry, Tigerwood也才５刀多。
当然牌子是Home Legend，基本上算是HD 自己的牌子，外面基本上是没有听说过的。牌
子是肯定不如Shaw了。但是品牌能差多少呢？ 而木料是实实在在的不一样了。
另外如果从HD 或Lowes买料再请人装，比较担心如果出问题后比较难处理。
如果从专门的地板公司同时买料和安装，总觉的贵。从材料来说，HD和Lowes的便宜多
了.

道CT所有的shaws都倒闭了。
所有的商品，除了烟酒，邮票，GC等，都半价，也不让用MFC了，不过，我还是找到了
好deal，红国宝也是半价，我把剩下的25磅红国宝扫清了，算下来比flushing的价格还
要便宜，还买了些organic的鸡蛋，也是不错的deal。

后今天我又去买四盒，小二扫一个ITEM，紧接着就扫一个胖子，结果到第三个和第四个
的时候，胖子就无法扫过了，系统认定是OVERAGE，过不了。本来想想算了，就结账了
。结果求知小二叫来经理来问，经理去查COUPON POLICY，回来把四个胖子全收了，退

回家查了一下SHAWS COUPON POLICY，上面居然没有任何关于BOGO SALE怎么用胖子的描
述，估计经理也是查了这个觉得四盒雪糕可以用四个。。。

，以前听说找full-time的师兄面了七轮八轮到最后background checking了还会被回报
掉。基本是和高手过过招长点经验值，不可能生还到最后的。何况偶又是在找
internship，基本更加不可能了。最近还有秋季学期的project和准备期末考试，觉得
这些更重要一些。
问问版上的大侠，大家知道有成功申到DE Shaw暑期实习的先例么？ 谢谢啦

最近在等，比较着急，到版上向前辈达人询问一下。10天前提交DE Shaw quantitative
researcher的申请，8天前收到Strategic Growth 的那个Technical Information
Sheet，就是问各种计算机语言的经验以及理论课程，写代码经历的那个表格。挺认真地
填了当天就寄回去了。到现在什么反馈都没有。
本来DE Shaw也抱着比较轻松的心态去申请的，要求这么苛刻的HF，基本不可能有机会
活到最后的。不过就好比和欧阳峰过招，最后即使败了，也能长一些见识和经验值。所
以还是有点期望能有第一轮面试的。请问有可能那个表格填的不好，第一轮面试DE
Shaw 就不发的可能么。我是应该继续耐心地等等还是写信给SG询问一下呢？

engineering。方便大家下面都是美刀USD
现在远程给NVIDIA做硬工，也算是一个小lead目前管了几个印度人做GPU，拿着$135k
base, bonus $20k + $35k stocks。
我大概一年前面过DE Shaw Research做DV engineer，但是我说因为家庭原因我不能去
NYC。最近他们说有limited term 1-3年full-time职位让我远程做，估计跟上次offer
差不多，去年给$230k base + $100k sign-on。
才在NV干了一年，感觉还有上升空间，而且股票飕飕涨不知道值不值得离开？听
recruiter口气3年后在DE Shaw Research继续干就要搬过去，我因为家里原因很困难。
本地硬工选择少工资低，NV这个职位很不错了，是不是应该就乖乖做着？求大家给点意

one of my friends got the interview, and it was humiliating .
SAC/ DE SHAW would get any entry level > 300K. (bonus included).
but millions paycheck is not rare in these company.
Heard a guy got MD in Citadel before his 30's.
20M bonus. but seemed to have law suit again the company for
non-compete reason. |

The differences are:
Shaw is focusing drug-design via computation biochemistry, if success,
it will have HUGE HUGE impact on humankind. His vision is great,
the D.E.Shaw research team has ~100 talents now working on this.
Simons seems more successful in running financial section, yet donates money
