不如好好学习数学,毕业后进入DE Shaw或者SAC Capital这种牛公司。
哎,我们这种非学生此生已经没机会了。。。 加油! |

It would be an excruciatingly painful experience to study math once one
lost his passion.

one of my friends got the interview, and it was humiliating .
SAC/ DE SHAW would get any entry level > 300K. (bonus included).
but millions paycheck is not rare in these company.
Heard a guy got MD in Citadel before his 30's.
20M bonus. but seemed to have law suit again the company for

Many years ago, one Harvard PhD who is my friend, later I knew he tried his
best to jump in my company, for 3 times of interview, got rejected for no
reasons.
He was quite surprised that I got offer of only one-time interview and felt
very weird.
At that time, I didn't have PhD yet, my school was also second below Harvard.
None of fields can prove I was stronger at all. My company never told him
the reason to reject.

in the job market. for example, if you have a math ph.d from an Ivy school,
you would probably have a greater chance of landing a job with a reputable
financial firm than a math ph.d from a second tier school.

If one really wants to do something, maybe he has to be a manager of some

Like CEO of Citi bank, he gets big bonuses in good years, and also gets high
pay in bad years. I like this kind of job. He is not the smartest people:
