觉得他有一下几点比较突出
有audio的outline，可以上下班开车的时候听听，考试前一个月听很有帮助 混个脑熟
那种需要bs的题目就都能整两句得 个及格分
online seminar可以翻来覆去的一直听
最重要的是 押题准啊 case study的题基本都押中了 我当时看到卷子就笑了
还有一个 condie的seminar也是online的 我觉得他的seminar很一般 但是在考试前几
个礼拜会给一套题 也能押中几道 这套题可以单独买 这个我也强烈推荐
可怜我csp考了n次 要是早知道有tia的seminar 我就不用考的那么死去活来的了 所以
就想给大家分享一下 争取第一次考就把这些资料都收了 一次就过

无论讲的什么，都觉得很有意思，很向往的样子
现在到好，身边的师兄师姐都很自以为是的样子
总是要对Seminar指手画脚一番
要是演讲者讲的比较清楚，他们就说it suck，不就是做了一个什么实验嘛，没劲死了
要是演讲者讲了一些新思路，他们又说哎呀隔行如隔山啊，完全听不懂啊，没劲死了啊
云云
不过如果演讲者前50分钟的内容他们能听懂，后10分钟的内容完全听不懂，他们就说哎
呀这个Seminar真不错啊，很有启发，good point，good idea云云。
我一般如果去Seminar，都是坐在第一排的，一是为了提问方便，二是我可以把腿伸直
了，省的挤在后面难受。 |

Research seminar到是做过很多，而且可以做的很生动，必竟熟悉，有confidence.
请问，teaching seminar一定要从课本里准备一小节出来讲还是把research seminar里
的一部份也可以拿来讲？请过来人指点。 |

学也不变。。
今年这个情况有变化。感觉上是传说中的seminar class里面也是良莠不齐， 所以，今
年Dingeman是把去年seminar的拆开，而且，加了一些hige performance GATE student
, 等于是弄了两个快班。。。也即是打破了以前一旦进了seminar 班， 就是终生制了
。今年的四年级是这个样子。。。
五年级的情况不清楚。。。
快班里面进度还是很快的， 但是并不代表就很难。。。 |

教授/副教授, 物联网(internet of things)相关方向的(只要沾边就行), cover一切费
用, 回国日期可以自定
(今年内), 回国时间长度名义上最长可以1个月, 但只要集中时间做几场seminar, 其他
时间可以自行安排(探亲, 回美国皆可).
因为和我现在做的方向差的很远, 所以想上这里问问. 我知道吸引力不大, 但如果有兴

背景：南加州， 我们这里考GATE，各个学区不一样， 有的是考reading, math啥的。
我们这里是Pure IQ test,60道题,然后给你一个percentile，是按照今年考试的人数算
，比如今年整个学区二年级有2000个学生。
GATE Cluster的学生是理论上是98%以上的学生。这些学生每周short day那天， 会抽
出来上一个小时数学。 平常是混在班里上的。（实际上是95%-98%）
GATE Seminar的学生理论上是99.9%的学生。 单独抽一个班出来， 单独的老师，单独
的教程。但是会reserve一些spot给 low income, non-english proficiency 和别的
special student. 所以， 实际上是99.6-99.9%
这个考试一共就2次，二年级和五年级， 中间不能考。

一般都是喝清咖的，有时加一点蜂蜜。今天我在那里点了一杯卡布奇诺和一角海鲜披萨
，被告知没有，只好吃块饼干凑活。还不等seminar开始我就先问了一个问题："why do
you think the bridge domain of the rna polymerase blablah...."赢来了很多赞
许和佩服的目光。等他讲到一半时我就从前排退场了，讲的太没劲了，too simple，于
是佛袖而去。 |

半个小时seminar（加上Q&A共一个小时），要包括”a brief bio, a summary of your
work, and your vision for the position“，而不是我想象中的介绍博士期间的工
作。他们的广告很泛泛，不知道该如何把这三部分有机的结合起来，尤其是vision不知
该如何入手。大家有什么建议吗？多谢了. |

有一些工作发表，但是觉得做的不好，所以不想讲,
最近做的比较有意思点，也对对方的口味，但是文章还没有写呢，如果将这个好不好？
有几个担心：
1. 没有发表是不是没有说服力
2. 因为是刚做的，虽然自己觉得理解的还行，但是还是怕有些问题没想到
3. 还有一个担心是，讲了后怕别人去做，先发表了
另外，seminar如果分成两个section，相互有关联，但是不是非常强的，好不好？

I usually take a look at a seminar announcement a day before the seminar
unless the speaker is a big-name.
The only money you might lose is the airfare. You can cancel the hotel
easily.
Get another speaker with similar background won't be too difficult.
Let your chair know exactly what happened and how you handled it. |

在饭店认识了一个作研究的教授，受影响开始作研究。
把她的小狗的名字放在Journal experimental medicine上当第一作者。后来被人发现
，上了 Jem的黑名单。知道editor死了现在新的editor接受她的文章了。
现在的文章挂名，affiliation里还称“ghost lab" |

发帖数: 5 | 48 下礼拜有个面试，要求做两个seminar, 一个research，另外一个是关于teaching的。
邮件上说这个teaching seminar 主要就是要把statement of teaching philosophy 做
成PPT，让学生和老师了解你会怎么教课和指导学生做研究。还要求尽快提供title和
abstract.
从来没有这方面的经验，希望各位多多指点。尤其是title和abstract怎么写，因为要
尽快发过去了。
