他是不是要吐血我贬低他们的高大上colloquium～～关键我们系seminar观众数量和他
们colloquium只多不少啊，当然了，主要是我们的房子大点儿。问题就是让我以为这两
个词一样，都是指学术报告，只是前者可能更formal些，但这年头，大牛们给报告早就
不西装领带了，更加误导了我对这个高大上词汇的无知。 |

我倾向于seminar organizer但是这个是weekely for a full year
第一年怕应付不来
而且系里没钱 请人都是得自费过来

刚发现的，准备找几个同样被邀请做talk的大牛做比较，结果悲催的发现
人家的广告上面写着invited talk,到我的广告就变成seminar了，能不能
装傻混在一切啊？
这个区别大不大啊？还是让他通知学校改成invited talk啊？
主要是之前因为名字，title的关系，让他给学校修改了3遍了

jungleman , annette_15 etc in person could be quite helpful. I attended a
seminar last year given by Howard Ledger and Annie Duke, did learn
something interesting.

去的时候还好 孕检也蛮顺利的 回来的时候出事了
为了做一项血检 老板在医院喝了不少水
因为下午有seminar 老板没来得及上厕所 我们就往回开了
路上老板表情异样 我想是估计是要pee 就直接问了 老板的脸刷的就红了
我赶紧开了GPS找厕所 最近的还有20几迈
只好找了一个僻静的路边 我停下来 打了双闪
老板下车去路边林子解决问题了
万万没想到 一部警车pass by 以为我们车坏了好心 停下来问
我傻乎乎地说车没事 就是方便一哈
胖警察一个箭步就冲进林子 把老板拎出来了
还上了手铐！！！！！
胖警察说public urinating要罚五百块 外加一天jail time。
老板被拎上了警车后座
上车前幽怨地望了我一眼 -- 也可能是恶毒地。。。
我因为下午有seminar 只好先自己开车回学校了。
也不知道老板现在怎么样了
出来了没有。。。

小伙子，红外技术，空-空/地-空导弹红外制导跟踪。以前偶听
seminar都晕晕欲睡，听这个却特有精神。不过可能是国防的问题，
有好多东西他都不便讲出来似的。美国佬的技术真的好厉害啊，
不知中国的东风技术怎样。但愿不差吧。可是中国的人才外流太严重
了，这么发展下去...sigh
但愿偶多虑了。 |

In case you have to give a seminar to a crowd who has already read the
previous appendix, we also give the following rules:
(1) Avoid long questions. You might forget which one of you is the speaker,
and sleeping on the projector is uncomfortable.
(2) Bring your lunch. It will give you something to do while waiting for that
sick person in the audience to stop coughing. Also, if somebody slurps their
coffee at you, you can munch your celery right back at them |

career seminar in Fixed Income at Boston College this Sunday. I've been to
their last consulting seminar. Very well-organizaed event, but little too many
job hunters than "normal" people.
They've got a big name from China this time. Guys in Boston might want to
check it out. I will be in a client meeting in NYC tomorrow, and won't be able
to make it.

一般都是喝清咖的，有时加一点蜂蜜。今天我在那里点了一杯卡布奇诺和一角海鲜披萨
，被告知没有，只好吃块饼干凑活。还不等seminar开始我就先问了一个问题："why do
you think the bridge domain of the rna polymerase blablah...."赢来了很多赞
许和佩服的目光。等他讲到一半时我就从前排退场了，讲的太没劲了，too simple，于

我是fresh Ph. D., 做分析化学的. 现正准备去药厂面试.我可以选择在onsite
seminar讲的课题有ABCDE五个. A,B的内容比较相关,是我博士论文的内容,各发了一篇
文章. C,D的内容也比较相关,是和药厂的职位比较相关的课题,只发过poster. E是我在
药厂实习时做的课题,也发了文章.
我应该选择讲哪几个课题呢? 都拿去讲是不是就太松散了.

aganda上mark了。
去了seminar，让我吃惊的是，清一色的几乎全部是女生，只有零星几个男生在那里装
点着。这时候我才发现这个seminar是女性研究所办的。主要讨论色情电影中女性受众
的问题。
其间好几个女生说，色情电影忽视女性受众，没有考虑女性在看这种电影的时候的感受
，完全从男性心理角度拍摄。说了很多， 我有很多没有听懂。
有个女生，此女比较胖。 她说，这些色情电影里的actress都很性感，而性感的标准也
是男性的，比如说亚洲女演员，都是skinny的身材。说到这里，会场上很多人看我，
我是唯一一位在场的亚洲女性。 我笑笑，心想，本人肥妈一个。
很多我没有听懂，但结论我听懂了，他们建议色情电影公司从女性角度拍摄制作。她们
拿出来survey来，表明女性看色情电影的数量很多，是个不错的市场。 |

真不是个容易差事。自己要负责找speaker,安排他们住宿吃喝，控制budget, 安排
coffee & snack，找听众，要自己亲力亲为的细节太多，要花大量的时间。最大问题是
找speaker. 因为seminar是weekly, 所以大概要找１２－１６个speaker。我一junior,
做的领域不是本系的主流，能找来的人大概系里都不会感兴趣。可是让其他ｆａｃｕ
ｌｔｙ帮忙找speaker，他们又都不搭理。上个星期系主任才告诉我我摊上这个事，我
赶紧发信问附近的朋友。大家都忙着开学，没人能来。眼看就开学了，还一个speaker
都没有。头疼。
原来那个seminor coordinator, 还老在一边吹毛求疵。我发信给大家问
availability时间和邀请speaker, 她就写了一封很长的信来，说我自己定个时间，找
好speaker就行了，不要给大家找麻烦，口气非常不客气，让我那个 |
