忌：在平直绵密的防御线上拉出一个突出部（salient）来，战线长度大增，兵力
必须要分散，无法保证原有密度，而且其左翼，根本没有按照米德将军指示的那
样，放置在小圆顶山，原本在当天早晨掩护小圆顶山的布福德的骑兵师，北骑兵
军军长普莱辛顿（Alfred Pleasonton）未经上级批准调走了，于是根本没有兄弟
部队的掩护。这样，整个北军阵地的左翼就形成了两个薄弱环节，给了南军绝好
的机会：第一个就是这个钝角突出部，他们完全可以从这个突出部的两侧实施向
心突击；第二，最左翼的制高点大小圆顶山完全暴露出来了，敌人也可以选择不
进攻他们，而是迂回越过小圆顶，包抄整个联邦军队的身后。
下午，米德将军在自己位于公墓岭后面的司令部召集各军长开会，有人告知他第
三军未经批准就擅自向前布防了，他听了以后震怒。这时候恰巧西柯尔斯骑马赶
来开会，米德跑出来，简短几句严厉愤怒的话，命令西柯尔斯不要下马，立即赶
回去回防原阵地，然后他自己当即下达两项后来证明至关重要的命令：第一，急

前一段时间大家讨论基辅战役的得失，非常热烈。最近读了点文章，也写写自己一点鸡
零狗碎的看法。
首先，德国人的首要目标是什么？希特勒的想法是很明确的，那就是消灭红军主力，而
不是攻克莫斯科 (D. Glantz, The Battle for Leningrad, Kansas Univ. Press, pp.
26)。这个逻辑很自然：如果只是攻克莫斯科，俄国人仍然可以抵抗，从历史上看，俄
国人被拿破仑占领了莫斯科，而俄国人笑到了最后；从现实看，俄国人在列宁格勒有工
业，乌克兰有农业，高加索有石油，顿巴斯有工业，莫斯科的工业可以迁到乌拉尔继续
生产，攻克莫斯科并不意味着俄国就会投降，而如果消灭了红军的主力，俄国人想不投
降也没有办法(说到这里，希特勒向毛泽东抛个媚眼：俺们德国人也是要以消灭敌人有
生力量为主地)。

州的奥斯丁。我进行过仔细的比较。波士顿最好，其次是芝加哥、三藩，然后是双城。
波士顿、芝加哥、三藩比双城不足的是好区太贵了。双城正好相反，好区连成片，不用
特别担心好区、坏区的问题。
另外铁锈地带不包括明州。明州的人比较土，觉得什么都自己办比较保险，所以造就了

芝加哥，大家都应该很了解，一度成为美国文化的中心地区。
明尼苏达对于全美来说都是个例外。这是由于历史上人口组成单一所造成的。高科技方
面不如圣何塞和波士顿，但强于其它地方，特别是在工程方面，基本沿袭了北德国和北
欧的传统。
