of identifying and developing players in order that Cards be competitive.
Pujols probably will sign his last big contract next winter (or is it
after 2011?). I see no chance that he would sacrifice his salary for
the "greater good" of the team. If I have to make a guess, I think his
contract might be like 240/8.
At this rate, Cards might do better trading him to Yankees/RSox or
some team with financial flexibility than keeping |

a pathetic .364. Career-wise, it's only .332. As long
as he could steal, those "exciting" double or triples
had little value to his teams, because leadoffs don't
have many RBI opportunities anyway.
I can hardly see he's worth more than 10m/y. He was
extremely lucky that he played in the same division
with Yanks and RSox, and was a rare bright spot of
a long time stinky team. |

Big spending teams all suffer from bad contracts. Look at Yankees, RSox,
Phillies. No exceptions. Now joining them are Angels and Dodgers.
Not every big spending team is luck enough to hit a Trout jackpot though. |

Victorino is undervalued by the Phillies. He does not hit for much power,
and his contract year did not go well. Still, he has integrity, has speed,
and plays a GG RF/CF. These are all valuable assets.
I am glad that he won a 2nd WS title with the RSox. |
