为什么要写此文呢?刚刚看到有人说老印的resume平均7-8页,说什么写的越长越好,经验显得多,这样才nb.于是想到前几天帮一位老兄forward了一份简历.这位老兄有超过20年经验,resume写了满满6页.开头自然是姓名地址联系方式,然后是objective,找什么position,再接着就是experience.这个是亮点,这位老兄把他过去20年干过的10几个公司,每个公司干过的project,详细到每个project涉及到的产品型号,参数.....都列了出来,样样洒洒超过5页,未为壮观.接着是skillset,会什么什么什么.最后是education.这份resume,
大家感觉如何,NB么?猜猜我递过去后的结果是什么.

一点建议：把做过得项目(无论是工作中的还是课程中的，论文也好，课程设计也好

发帖数: 155 | 13 我现在有工作，算骑驴找马，心里很急切想换到ideal location，但找得很失败。
现在想反省一下到底哪里做得不好，刚毕业时，resume包括education啥的，全部一页
。现在密密麻麻总共４页多，突然觉得别人看到这么拖泥带水的resume，是不是就不耐
心看了。我工作没换过，一直在现在单位，但在内部不同position（也没换title，就
是做的具体duty不同）换过两次，所以我的resume把那些具体的tasks都写上了，每个
task都算写得比较细，三四个bullet，这些task都是以前做过的重复性的duty，我也把
具体做过的一次性project写在了resume了，为了hiring manager能看懂，preject也写
得相对具体。找得不顺利，持续了很久，resume也就这样子慢慢加上去，结果就这么四
五页了，主要就是以前和现在的duty和做过的project。
大家对resume怎么看法，我想精简一下resume，是删掉一些呢，还是把每个task写得简
单一些？

发帖数: 10191 | 14 公司会收到很多resume，不要担心，这是正常的，如果没收到，那恭喜你，你被audit
并被拒的可能性非常大，因为人家有理由相信你fraud。
收到resume，律师需要对照广告逐一比较，比如广告有9条要求，那对每个人的resume
都要仔细比较，如果发现有任何一条不吻合（比如没有某技能），打个勾，这个resume
枪毙掉了。所有的resume都要做，然后汇总成表格上交给uscis。如果没有任何resume
符合所有要求，恭喜你，广告这步基本过了。
如果有resume符合所有要求怎么办？这时候就要面试，然后由你的经理面试，由经理做
出此人某技能实际不符合的判断，加到你申请的材料中。
当年我的perm就有一个人符合所有条件，来面试后枪毙的，到底符合不符合，不都经理
说的算？
所以，人际关系和广告都挺重要的。 |

.有一个面试，第一次谈的时候是在3个月前，对方知道我要忙毕业，就一直等，现在毕
业了，对方通知我要on-site面试，但是在这三个月中，我的简历有一些改动，主要是
发表文章的问题，原先的三个working papers，有两个不弄了，一个under revision,

1) 个人不太推荐career center的resume service, 不推荐是因为他们不熟悉你这个专
业领域的background, 一般只能帮你改改语法错误, 或者帮你精炼一些句式用法和表达

upload .rtf格式的resume.
系统自动从这个resume里extract个人信息。而且，在upload resume的右边框里show了
resume的内容。
但是出来的格式和我原先在word里编辑的很不一样。分行什么都是乱七八糟的。
请问upload后框里show的乱七八爪的样子就是对方公司能看到的样子吗？还是虽然现在
屏幕上显示的乱七八糟但实际上系统以及记住了我上传的文件格式。 等公司的人调出

提供一份Resume的格式model
很多地方可以查到有关Resume的介绍和要求。中美两个地方对Resume/CV的要求是不一
样的，内容编排也不同。简历，因其名，就是要求简洁介绍自己的经历。简历是在找工
作时，给人的第一印象：是一见钟情呢，还是直接进入碎纸机。这也跟演员登台表演时
的化妆有可比性，有真功夫也得有戏服来衬托。
对简历的要求：英文不得有太明显的错误。从简历也可以看出语言的驾驭水平和组织能
力。多余字眼的表达偏离了简历的格式要求。
关于字体：一般采用9号大小的arial字体。太大，显得松垮，太小，自然不容易看。
页数要求：一般作为PHD，页数不是很重要，取决于内容多少。但准备一份2页的浓缩版
本，以备不时之需，还是有必要的。
Reference：最好列上至少两个，提供详细的联系信息。不要只写着 upon request这样
的字眼。虽然不是绝对的，但既然主动权在人家那里，还是最好表现得诚意一点。

我老婆最近去了联邦政府，同事老黄也去了政府，通过他们得经验， 别的都不重要，
就在USAJOBS 下功夫。
我老婆找了一年多，刚开始只找家近的NIH和FDA，半年连个INTERVIEW都没有，后来
我说你应该面向整个大华府。于是又找了4-5个月，还是没有消息，于是考虑是否找

when resuming from suspend, the scsi drive will be changed from /dev/sda to
/dev/sdg, thus the root which is mounted on /dev/sda1 is missing and the
system hangs.
i am using dev uuid in the fstab. i think when resuming and reload the file
system, the mtab is used, and mtab does not use uuid but device name. so
when the dev name get screwd, everything goes wrong.
right now the work around is i have to put the root in a sata drive, and

you can get the device's pci number 1:0:0:0 from /sys/device/... there are

and sd in scsi/drivers/sd stands for sd*, the harddrive device
this step is to make the clear out the busy flag(?not sure if this is true)

For the resume, the most important thing is always the content. Any other
things are based on content. No one likes a resume in one page without
highlights. If you have a exceptional resume with multiple pages among all
the candidates, you got very little chance to be missed.

，找了一本写简历的参考书，花了两个多星期字斟句酌写成的。事实证明，这分努力没
有白费。凭着这份简历进了这个学校，因为我的GMAT分数很低，和其他中国学生比，我
只能是流瀑布汗。他们说，我的GMAT分数简直是丢中国人的脸。我自以为英文水平不在
他们之下，但不善于考试，没办法。
在进学校之后，学校专门给学生作就业辅导的专家对我的简历也没提出什么修改意见。
所以，此后就靠着同一份简历所向披靡。简历不能超过一页长，言语要力求简练。对我
做过的每一个position，我用的格式顺序是：company name, title,
responsibilities and results.
“Responsibilities”用一串过去式动词+宾语的形式说明。动词尽量用那些感觉
strong的，避免同一个动词的大量重复，避免感觉weak的动词。公司一般用key word
to screen resume, 所以尽量用那些关键词，这样就增加被搜索到的机会。可以去

graduates who are looking for technical jobs:
- Try not to list Mandarin or even Shanghai dialect in your resume as
expertise, unless the job requires for it specifically.
- Try not to put your minoring in business/finance/management there. When we
look at this, 1st thought is you are not going to do technical for long
term.

虽然都是根据职位对resume/cover letter进行调整，但总觉得自己的resume内容太满
，可能不太impressive，cover letter也不够生动。
我的resume大概是这样子：
overall qualification（照job description略改）,
education,
coursework highlight,
professional experience （intern+research 有五六个吧，每个我都加一小段文字说
明我的主要职能）
Award,
publication (中文的)
我的cover letter也就是说说自己的优势，要不要结合回答why I am a good match呢？
想听听前辈们的建议。
本人是social science背景，申请的职位一般是data analyst, research assistant/
associate之类。

headhunters/recruiters or people who work, more and more you will know what
skills they want. Put as more as possible key words. They search resume by
key words. You do not have industry experience, that's OK. Finance PHD is
more better.
Ps, you should put U.S. Permanent Resident at the bottom of your resume,
bold. If you don't put.. add it now.. should give you more opportunity. |

准备好，打算过段时间再让朋友refer我的。这几家是dream，打算准备充分后再去，比
较有把握。他们好像都是college engagement team的。
所以想请问现在要不要给他们resume呢？还是当做没看见到时候再找人refer？担心给
了resume之后会不会后面refer就没用了？还是说其实这些根本不影响的。。。谢谢啦
