上次写了中餐馆的事获得大家的热情鼓励，包子收了不少。有多人要求我写写美国车行
的内幕，今天没大事就写几段。笔者在B城多家车行干过销售员。多数是大学毕业后专
业没着落，零打碎敲的过路活，也有在被裁员的时候专业干过Internet Sales
Manager一年多。车行销售员人事起伏就像过旋转门的人流，干坐几天没人来就呆不住
了，也有年轻气盛，超速斗车罚单吃多了，驾照吊销后没法干了。我混过的车行有
Buick，Nissan，Chevy，Toyota，Honda。都是陈年烂芝麻的旧事，但是车行的总体销
售运作架构还是没啥变化的。

发帖数: 414 | 16 今天早上Collision了。对方SUV后面有个hook，撞到了我Sedan的Rear Bumper，Bumper
没有掉下来，但是和车体相连的地方disconnected了。不是很影响美观，但是能看出来
。因为我的deductible是$1000，且是双方责任，不打算走保险。
Body Shop给的方案是把Bumper拆下来，把和车体连的地方扳直。Melt Bumper的塑料，
内侧加补丁，Sanding再喷漆重新装上去。收费总共分四项，$660+Tax=>$700
1. Remove/Repair Rear Bumper
2. Prep Rear Bumper
3. Paint/Prep
4. Materials
请问：
1.价格如何，如果我要还价，有什么步骤可以还价的？
2.我觉得Rear Bumper就是给撞的，我近5年撞一次还是不错的，不过接下来不能保证，
不知道值不值得修？

Try not to regurgitate the textbook to students. They can read the book

工资: 〉60K
teaching: 第一年 2/2或2/3, 每学期两个prep （像你描述的这种安排，如果每学期
都这样，3/3 也还好）
start-up: 尽量多给自己争取
有了别的 offer, 谈判的资本就会大很多。其实这个AP的位子比欧洲post-doc
还是要更适合你一点。时间成本低，家庭动荡小，至于是不是和学术无缘，归根结底
要看你自己。research university 的teaching load大部分是2/2, 但基本两个 prep,
少不了多少。post-doc 幸运地可以提高你的research productivity, 但是也有
不幸运的就是给别人干活而已，另外多花了三年时间，包括很多孩子和自己的
cultural transitions, 不见得更划算。
另外在美国将来跳槽恐怕更容易些。工资这东东，跳两次就上去了。有个文科的AP
刚跳成，才第三年，工资涨了$20K.

西部农村的一个小teaching school
第一年3/3的teaching load, 2 preps，教大三和大四的本科生
从第二年开始，如果前一年没有publication，teaching load就变成4/3。而且系主任
不能保证我能教以前的preps。没有TA/GA支持
请问，这样的teaching load是不是很重了啊？算是正常的load吗？平时还会有时间做
研究吗？
问下过来人，谢谢大家 |

单程2小时，平均下来每星期去一天。教书量是22，3个prep。
2. 另外一个工作，好处是离家不到10英里，但学校没什么名气，很小的一私立学校。
教学量为33，4个prep。收入方面都差不多。
如果是你，是继续1呢，还是换到2？ |

加拿大学校在多伦多附近， Brock University.
两个学校的钱基本差不多，主要差别是teaching load.
美国是3/3（2个PREP),加拿大是2/2(1个PREP).
美国是第6年头上开始评TENURE,加拿大是第5年头上。
本人基本情况，加拿大绿卡，近40岁，还没孩子，近期准备要。
去美国的话，申请H1B，然后走EB2办绿卡。
加拿大再等2年能拿公民，去美国的话加拿大绿卡基本算作废了。现在有美国10年B1/2
签证。
知道休斯顿气候好，生活费用低，房子便宜。
主要问题是TEACHING LOAD是否太重。
今年市场不是很好，如果想今后往上走换学校的话，该怎么选择？
当然，也可能走不成，那样的话，哪个比较好些？
主要是两个学校是不是REPUTATION上有很大差别。 |

发帖数: 49 | 29 找到一个３－０ teaching load的学校，合同里写个一年上九个学分的课，因为基本上
我们这个专业的课都是３个 credit,所以默认３－０，虽然也被告知有可能是１－２之
类的。
最近排课，被系主任告知下学期要上两个2-credit的课程，接下来的一个学期要上一个
2-credit，一个3-credit的课程。这下无形中三门改四门，还要有个学期上两个prep.
关键是这个2-credit的课没别人上，默认以后算我的，所以基本上以后要一直这么下去
了，很郁闷。
别的同事都好好的一年上三个课就好了，我这上四个还要有一个学期同时俩PREP. 刚和
系主任抱怨了一下，他貌似觉得９个学分怎么凑都差不多啊。
大家觉得我的CONCERN站得住脚么？还是大多数人都觉得无所谓？我怎么理论啊。虽然
说有学分的差别（两个学分的每节课的时间短半小时），可是感觉上事情多了好多呀。 |

取，也不是没有可能。据我所知，很多新来的east dublin都对最近的给dubin high
敛钱的measures投了反对票，我们当时还没有正式搬过来，以后要对类似的measure投
票也会和周围邻居一样投反对票的，现在反对新高中最厉害的就是dublin学区的头头和
west dublin的居民，但是东边的居民越来越多，话语权也会越来越大，以前的measure
收的钱大部分都用在建场馆和更新西边学校的设施上，东边的居民不会长期傻乎乎的只
管掏钱。不说中国人，不要低估老印的能量。另外一个可能性就是如果livermore
valley charter prep以后比dublin high好，东边的居民会考虑把孩子送到livermore
valley charter prep。现在propose的新高中target的地是在dublin crossing，以后
真的要建新高中了，地也不会是太大的问题，从我们住的再往东和livermore接壤的地

could be quite toxic in elderly patients, mostly from the myeloablative
chemo prep, so instead, you transplant the cells without high dose intense
chemo as a prep, and the recipient would have both donor cells and his or
her own cells in there, hoping the donor cells will do the trick, at least

她说你来做个产后1年的checkup吧。检查除了身高、体重、尿检外，还在阴道取了些组
织做lab(I guess)。结果之后不停地收到账单，我的保险是Empire UUP，一般都会
cover ,但这次大部分都要自费。不明白，请明白的姐妹帮忙看看，怎么有这么多门目

中文不能早写是因为太难写， 我女儿prep了， 只会写‘一’，‘木’， ‘水’。
英文写很容易， 会字母就会写了， prep的老师会教的。 英文单词会读， 小孩自己就
会拼了， 开始拼的不对也不要紧的。
因此， 还是先把中文说好， 接着识字， 兴趣最重要了。
我觉得3岁前， 千万别写， 小孩的手指精细动作没发育好， 过早握笔，姿势肯定不对
的。

至少对着 common core 的大方向没错，common core 如果说现在
计算不是那么重要，那也是有其一定道理的。。。看看大方向。。。
而且真要是想 test prep 的话，各州都不太一样的，就这一张
考卷也没啥用。。。新东方都得先备上三十年考题才 test prep
的。。。
而且考题本身也不是啥洪水猛兽。。。从 American Math Computation
到 IMO，历年考题都在网上。。。良好设计的题目，是教育资源里非常
非常非常重要的一部分。。。当然，世上总会有个别人拿金子当狗屎用。
拿人家精心设计的牛鼻题目当成 trivia 来背诵。这个还真没啥办法
。。。我只能对着苍天大吼一声，丫特么就不知道按 trivia 背诵一题
就少一题么。。。 |

因为俺娃说她不想上那个课了。她说她可以把那个 test prep 课的时间拿来
做数学题。。。所以我就同意了。。。
俺在娃三年级和三年级以前，确实没有咋管娃具体的数学。。。主要是因为
纯计算归 after-school 管了，三年级以及之前的数学也比较简单一些。。。
三年级以后俺才管娃数学比较多。。。当然之前俺管娃 academic 的其他
方面。。。 |

对于解题本身而言。。。你提到的是, 读题慢, 但解题不慢, 是不是这样?
读题有两步, 第一步是理解题意, 阅读数学文字的能力。。。第二步是建模, 把自然语
言翻译成数学语言。。。你看看你娃是哪一步慢。。。 |

发帖数: 22634 | 49 这也是事实。。。俺娃在上次那个 test prep 班里, 长位数纯计算题考了全班倒数。
。。但俺认为对俺家小学五年级普通娃而言, 数学兴趣和建模, 比长位数纯计算题要更
重要。。。但鱼和熊掌不可得兼。。。所以俺们就不再上 test prep 班, 并且做好娃
初中去数学慢班的准备, 把时间省下来让娃慢慢琢磨有趣点的美国数学计算题八。。。
当然这个也是要有底线的。。。我们跟娃说了, 如果九年级时, 数学题的速度和正确率
不够的话, 我们就做速度正确率的 drill。。。另外学校课堂和州考的速度正确率要能
保证过平均水平。
总之鱼和熊掌不能得兼是真的。。。 |
