发帖数: 419 | 1 比赛级别其实很多时候都是组委会自定的,NEWCOMER/PRE-BRONZE 不是每个比赛都有,但基
本上就代表最初级,通常不会出现这两个级别同设的情况,除非组委会想赚钱想疯了.
NOVICE 就有点复杂.基本的意思是不限制舞步, 但是在不同的比赛会是完全不同的水准.
有些比赛里NOVICE 代表初级, 有些比赛里NOVICE基本代表PRE PRE-CHAMP, 也就是说介于
GOLD和PRECHAMP之间,但是用NOVICE取代PRECHAMP的情况不多. 到底一个比赛NOVICE是什
么水平,我通常用两个办法判断,一是根据比赛大小数数总共几个级别的比赛,算算NOVICE
排第几, 二是看看去年的比赛结果NOVICE和PRECHAMP有那些人参加. AMATEUR的圈子太小
了,基本上PRECHAMP/CHAMP的人都是那么些名字.
在目前USABDA的规则里,NOVICE是任何SYLLABUS选手都可以报名的,但大赛中又基本等同
PRE PRECHAMP, 所以前一阵关于如何处理NOVICE还有一些争论,一派意见是直接把NOVICE
作为GOLD和PRECHAMP之间的一级,那么B |

The YCN system recognizes five consecutive levels, in increasing order:
Bronze, Silver, Gold, Prechamp and Champ
(There is also a Novice level just under Prechamp, but it will not affect
point computations here, and may safely be ignored.)
Placing in the final of a certain level earns you points simultaneously in
that level and the ones below it. Once you earn 7 (seven) points in a level,
you can no longer dance at that level.

few before in Gold level. It is also her first time to move to prechamp. I am
acturally a little bit worried about this. But our coaches suggest us to go
prechamp instead of gold.
I stard ballroom dance when I was a soformore back in China. But only during
last year, I got systematic training with good coaches here. |

发帖数: 91 | 4 Just came back from MIT Open this morning. It was such a wonderful competition
! The show dance from Michael and Joanna was awesome.
We got dog tired after all day of dance. My thigns are still sore now. In one
day, my partner and I experienced both the most excited and upset feelings...
We danced in both Standard and Latin prechamps. The only reason for us to do
latin prechamp is actually because our coaches don't know the close steps.

flight back. my team did great, not sure how they placed cuz i had to leave
early.

SRC 和HOTATLANTA 在一个周末,你们没有都去吗? AMATEUR里那几对叫什么名字你记得吗?
说出来可能会有我认识的.SRC是第一个有WORLD CLASS级别的,但是报名的人不多,最后进
行了吗, 有哪几对参加啊? 虽然我们短期内不比了,对比赛的GOSSIP还是很感兴趣的:)
8对是STRAIGHT FINAL 呢还是有半决赛? 如果STRAIGHT FINAL 那你的FLOORCRAFT已经发
挥的很好了, 8对PRECHAMP选手在场是肯定要冲撞的.你只是在狐步的最后有点慌(好象也
没乱嘛),这比我们强多了.上周我们的比赛也是STRAIGHT FINAL, 我们是一路冲撞,而且LG
彻底的LOST ORIENTATION,那悲惨的场面就别提了. 这点上我觉得我们自己负90%的责任,
教练要负10%,因为他从不重视FLOORCRAFT的训练,说撞上就USE YOUR ELBOW, 当然他不是
让我们故意对人如何,但可怜我们这块儿无意跟人撞上也是自己倒霉啊:( 我什么时候也得
找点障碍物练习了 |

不知道有没有人注意今年latin pre-champ里有对牛牛的couple男的叫spenser的，上次
hotlanta他们在amateur latin championship里拿了第一，怎么还等参加prechamp呢？

发帖数: 629 | 14 这是我一直以来都在思考的一个问题，我有很多跳open level的朋友都劝我跳prechamp,
但我一直没有付诸行动，当然一方面是因为没有合适的partner,但另一方面也是因为我个
人担心的因素。
我看过许多太早进入open level的dancers,最后的结果都不尽人意，许许多多的girls in
champ level,却没有办法follow一个简单的syllabus foxtrot,第一次见到的时候，我很
suprised,后来我的一个coach告诉我，其实这很常见，一般就是比较talented的dancers
(especially girls!), rush into open level too early的结果。
我想这是女生们的一个问题，因为我们只要能follow,有个好的partner,一般情形下都能"
蒙混"过去...那到底要如何知道什么时候是开始跳open materials的时机呢？
basics永远都不可能perfect,不管什么程度，大家都还是不停的work on basics啊,所以
这似乎也不能拿来当一个标准。那拿赢得比赛的次数吧，但大多数不住在N |

-Havard did an awesome job for the prechamp/cham final and showdance evening
. the lights and candles made it feel like a real ball~ some harvard kids
really dressed up for the evening :) haha, unfortunatley later they got
stepped over during the social dance :)
-I was a bit disappointed by Peter and Christina's performance. basically
they said they just got some new choreogragh and kind of experimented on us.

a higher "nominal" level, but according to my teacher, is not that much
advanced than me. Actually I don't know what my level is - never competed
officially. It all depends on what system you quote from. I recall somebody
posted a silver champion clip from the National amateur comp, and i asked if
some collegiate gold (or even prechamp) dancers do better than that silver,
and the answer is no. I don't wanna lie but don't wanna |

dancers了，两个人专心练舞，一星期上一次private，如果只练一个style的话，一年
内level的差距就没有了。
还是两个人对跳舞的想法比较重要，两个人的financial situation，能投子给跳舞的
时间是否相当，个性等等。
tryout的时候，没有必要有routine，lead and follow是一个很好的开始，过了一回之
后，如果感觉还可以，可以试着跳一小段routine，不过一般都是男生lead他的routine
，遇到一些不容易follow的,再告诉我。 |

syllabus, those who usually go to nationals will still go regardless of
where it's being held. =) ppl are dancing for the national title afterall.

wasn't our greatest outing but it definitately felt good to be on the floor
again.
don't know about the new stage, hubby will be very busy the next few months
so it's unlikely we can continue training. and it takes soooooooooo much to
be competitive. the moral of the story is dance a lot while you can!!! |

发帖数: 77 | 36 大学比赛没有novice? 这个我倒是没听说过。在西海岸甚至还有一个pre-novice的
2dance的项目。
理论上讲，pre-novice都比gold要求的水平要高，因为是open dance，也是multi
dance。但实际上呢倒是不见得。在业余组里，很多人都是想跳啥就跳啥。
进步的真正顺序是：
newcomer-bronze-silver-gold-prenovice-novice-prechamp-champion-becoming a
professional.
你也可以直接从newcomer当professional也没人会不让。呵呵。
一般来讲是往上跳可以，往下跳不可以，当然，其实也没人监督这玩意儿。 |

几经辗转,终于暂时有一个partner to practice.
其实我从一月以来就在Ballroom Off Fifth 上课.大约从去年5月就开始关注找纽约的
舞伴.但是真的是很难找到Level 和身高都相当的人.觉得大概三番地区其实要更容易找
到.总觉得这里Championship水平的更多一些,Adult preChamp其实寥寥无几.
有时真的想要放弃了,但是幸亏有很好的老师,即使一个人练习,也多少还有点进步,因而
坚持下来,站在青春的尾巴尖上跳舞 :).
