Windy City 芝加哥是我们2013中部行的第三站。 接连走了两个大农村的小地方， 游
一下名符其实的大城市， 就像清淡爽口的小菜吃多了， 来一道浓油赤酱的大鱼大肉，
调剂一下也很不错。上学时来过芝城多次，印象最深的一次是下午在空无一车的88号
公路，车里放着的就是这首罗大佑的《城市晚风》，橘黄色的夕阳穿过车窗，照得我和
LD都眯缝起了眼睛。 眼前路依稀还是那条路，坐在身边的还是那个人，只不过后座多
了个兴致勃勃的儿子，罗大佑的碟片，已不知失落在何处了。
入住的The Talbott Hotel位于风城的”Magnificent Mile“，属市中心的中心，离著
名的”Water Tower" 只有两三个街区。酒店门脸不大，但古色古香地很精致，墙角的
壁炉旁挂着旧时打猎时召唤猎犬的铜号；客房面积很大，色调是沉稳的藕荷色和白色，
从家俱到床上用品无一不精。 酒店的服务也非常好， 很够四星标准。这是个值得推
荐的住处。

我找了一个foundation contractor来检查我要买的房子。起因是因为我发现crawl
space里房子西南边有一个柱子已经几乎完全离开pier了。这个柱子上面是通向卧室的hallway,这可能直接导致了两个卧室门上面的裂缝。门上面的裂缝倒是不宽，以前一直以为只是cosmetic problem. 这个柱子旁边一根也有1/2离开pier了。
检查的结果说西南边沉降了1.1inch，北边沉降了1.2inch，总共有5个柱子有调整位置
。建议lift，要花15000刀。
报告里一开始没提concrete上有没有裂缝，我后来又问了一下，回复说concrete有一个地
方有surface crack，说lift以后可能就close了。

will allow water to pool near the foundation, which can possibly distort or

情况：
91年建的房子，slab foundation. 7年前Owner把gutter去了。现在garage有
settlement,garage墙上有一裂缝 (<1/4"shifting, 不仅仅是cracking).garage地上还
有其他几处cracking。10年前做了一个piering。现需加两个piering。garage上方
attic有3个carcked rafter. Dinning roof上方有1个cracked rafter。Dinning room
和garage几乎挨着。房子近半窗户都很难关上，pocket door几乎都stick.
房子其他状况都近乎理想。
价格：
我自己估计，如果没有foundation问题的话，该房子现在出价低于市场价约$10K.现在
我们想bail,但卖家很愿意进一步谈判，希望我们再考虑考虑。我们该砍多少价格会物
有所值（在seller修好所有inspection毛病的基础上）？我们是第一个出offer的。房
子上市当天就出了offer。

抓到了，罪名是钓到一个udersize的dungeness crab。娘当时不懂，就把螃蟹扔回去了
。officer就怒了。那个人见我娘是探亲的，就要把罪责加给我,misdemeanor。螃蟹是
我娘钓的，不是我做的，于是我通过学校推荐找到美国律师，他说全权代理不用我出庭

发帖数: 620 | 38 我们今天去的同一个地方刚回来。 现在螃蟹很多，正是钓螃蟹的好时候。
建议你们早点出发。我们今天从RALEIGH 10点出发，大约12点到，四点往回走，回来正好吃晚饭。 主要是钓的螃蟹最好当天吃掉，因为不太好存活过夜，一旦死了就不能吃了。
一个经验教训就是捞网很重要，普通的网兜恐怕不好用。 捞网越大越好，柄越长越好，WALMART里鱼具用品部有好几种，最好选大点的。 另外还要带剪刀剪绳子用。
楼主附图上的地址似乎不对。还要再向前走到头才是PUBLIC的PIER。用BING查你列
的地址是对的。那些木制的伸到水中的PIER都是PRIVATE的。
那个地方很偏僻，附近没有大商店，最好提前把饮料，食品，用具等等东西都准备好。旁边的VISITOR CENTER里有卫生间，只开到五点。

我最近两次溜都是凉风习习的晚上把车停到Chicago Ave.隧道口附近然后溜去Navy
Pier里玩一玩。

这是一个一室一厅,80平方米左右,比较适合结了婚的人住。如果合租的话，客厅很大，

房间出来。
楼里有洗衣房，全套健身房，室内游泳池和温泉桑拿，还有免费新装修的BBQ天台。
环境非常好，闹中取静。安全，干净，凌晨在街上走也不会害怕。这个区域大部分是
young
professional，还有很多是西北大学法学院，商学院和医学院的学生。
我和老公在这里住了两年，对这个房子很满意，有什么问题的话打个电话给办公室一天
以内就会有人来
修，而且服务都是免费的。我们现在都毕业了准备离开芝加哥了。想在8月初把房子转
租出去（我们的
lease8月31号到期）。如果续签lease的话很多家具都可以便宜卖给你。

芝加哥不是我那一直向往的城市， 但这次只是在脑海中闪过， 很快就定了机票。 网
友们说这个季节的芝加哥光秃秃的， 确实让我犹豫了一下。 让我欣慰的是后来顺利的在priceline上拍到了密西根大
道上的希尔顿酒店（70刀）。
芝加哥的地铁还是非常方便， 让我很容易地从机场到市中心酒店。之前在旅游版考古时没有看到谁提过地铁票的事， 想
了一下还是买了个3day pass, 但后来其实没有坐很多次地铁。 希尔顿酒店靠近地铁红线的Harrison站。 Check-in时
被告知lakeview房间要多加25刀，只好放弃了， 但要了个顶楼的房间, 从窗外能一览芝加哥的skyline, 尤其是那著名的
美国第一高楼。铁路从密西根大街平行穿过城市 中心， 似乎记录着这个城市不平凡的历史。

进去了， 只能2选1 的。 除非订一个navy pier的ball, 不过现在估计都sold out. |

月，家具，cable，水电气暖，网络全包！！！如果水管、马桶堵塞等也直接叫管理员上来免费维修就
行，吸尘器也可以跟管理员免费借，总之就是绝对不用再花费多一块钱：）
位置极赞，在N lakeshore drive上，有大窗户正对着Navy Pier，湖景绝佳！过街就是Treasure
Island。步行五分钟距离到Walgreens24小时店，Dominick's，AMC看电影，Navy Pier玩，或
